“Very Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013

Did not have a good experience. I chose this tour company because of the reviews on this site but I'm sorry to say this is one of the worst tours I've ever had. Our "English" speaking guide, by the name of Trang, could not really speak english and we could not understand him most of the time. He did not talk much either, when he did it was sporadic and uncomfortable. We also found the tour to be expensive, USD30 - 35 per tour (we did 2 days) and an "English" speaking guide for USD25 each day. Each tour lasted 2 hours (if you deduct out the travel time then its even less!). Hue to Hoi An tour was USD63 (we pay USD5 more because our hotel is outside Hue Central, which was fine with us). Please note that this does NOT include any of the entrance fees for any of the sites you visit during the tours! We still had to pay entrance fees separately.

The tour office had promised us that they would take us into town for lunch after the tour and then drop us back at the hotel. However, after the tour, when we asked them to take us to Hue central, which is where their office is, our request was met with protest because they wanted to drop us at the hotel. After much drama, they agreed to take us into town AFTER the driver picked up his motorbike at our hotel. And of course they did not send us back to the hotel, we took a taxi. I really do not see what the big deal is since the tour is not exactly cheap and hardly lasted 2 hours!

We then did the Hue to Hoi An tour with them. We had paid for both tours upfront and had wanted to pay half first but they insisted on paying the full price upfront so we did. Otherwise, at this point I guess we would tried searching for someone else. They had promised an interesting itinerary, including marble mountains, Lang Co beach, etc. But when the time came, Mr Trang told us the driver, Mr Thu, would only take us to a stone carving place and then after that straight to Hoi An. Since the tour office had provided me with an itinerary, I showed this to Mr Trang and once again we had to argue with him to get the driver to do the itinerary for which we PAID for! In the end he agreed to ask the driver to do the itinerary we were given. I'm not even sure why Mr Trang was involved here since he was not accompanying us to Hoi An.

Anyway, so Mr Thu took us on the Hue to Hoi an tour and this was okay. He's just a driver but he speaks better english than Mr Trang! We stopped at numerous places and we took our time (he did also take us to that stone carving place though). He took us for lunch at a local eatery for some good food and that was nice. I can't recommend Stop & Go Travel because of Mr Trang, but if you absolutely must use them, you can try Mr Thu for the Hue to Hoi An tour. I do not recommend their normal tours because I just don't feel it is worth the price.

“DMZ tour with Mr Vinh”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

I had the pleasure to have Mr Vinh as guide on my DMZ tour the 4th of March. Our driver took us to the Church in Quang Tri, Horrible highway, Ben Hai-river and Vinh Moc tunnels. Mr Vinh told me a lot about the war and the places we visited, but also a lot about Vietnamise Culture, people and the country.
If you have the possibility to go on a tour with Mr Vinh, I can really recommend him.

“Book your tours and transfers here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

We went here to book a temple tour and transfer from Hue to Hoi An. They were excellent. Thien drove us from Hue to Hoi An and it was one of the best experiences he was really knowledgable of the area stopping at many sites along the way. He also took us to a local cafe in Danang for lunch where we had the most amazing Pho $1 a bowl. As a family of four it was an extremely affordable option $60 for all of us in the comfort of a well kept 4wd with a very safe driver. Highly recommended. Our temple tour was a driver with limited English which we were advised of when booking but he looked after us very well and again drove very safely. Again a great way to see the temples at your own pace. Lots of information available at the temples so a guide was not necessary.

“Great car, poor intentions”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

We had booked a private car transfer from Hue to Hoi An that (according to the people in the Stop&Go "office") was supposed to stop at 5 different "sights". We paid 58 dollar for 2 people and were told that the tour would last 3-6 hours depending on the time of our stop-overs. It took us about 3.5 hours.

To begin with the driver arrived on time, he spoke decent English and appeared friendly, and the car was really great. So upon departure everything was set for a nice trip south. Then it changed a little:
1st stop Langco Beach: our driver didn't even mention where we were, until we asked if this wasn't Langco beach. He said it was, but he didn't stop as he claimed it wasn't beautiful and that China Beach was much better. We accepted this.
2nd stop Hai van pass: It should be said that we had bad weather so Hai Van pass was quite a downer. However, our driver stopped anyway and sat himself down drinking tea in one of the shops there and the insistent sellers were at us in an instant. It was obvious that he had some kind of deal with this shop.
3rd stop Cham Museum: Our driver did not even mention this place and passed it without notice. We didn't ask as we didn't care but still it should have been discussed.
4th stop China Beach: It was raining so we decided not to stop. Our driver thought this was a good idea.
5th stop Marble Mountain: Or well, a Marble Workshop close to the mountain, where we were immediately taken on a tour ending in a shop. Again some agreement seemed to exist. Our driver told us it would take at least 2 hours to actually visit the mountain and we could clearly feel that he didn't think we should do that. So we didn't.
Finally, upon reaching Hoi An, he began speaking of a good tailor friend he knew there and that he would take us there and then to the hotel. As we knew this "scam", we said we weren't interested but he kept insisting and eventually we agreed to stop to have a look for 1 minute. So, we stopped there and immediately our driver became invisible apparently eating somewhere, in spite of the agreement we had made. So we were forced to stay at this tailor for at least 10 minutes, until we were able to get away in the car.

All in all we felt that we were a commodity that was to be exploited to the fullest and that our enjoyment of the tour was of very little priority.
It should be said that at two occasions, our driver stopped upon request for a few minutes for photo opportunities.

“Hue Thu (to) Hoi An”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

We considered all the options... and finally decided on the Stop-and-Go tour from Hue to Hoi An, having hired Thu for a four-stop trip to the tombs two days earlier. We hadn't ever seen a Toyota Innova before. It's a very comfortable little MTV, ideal for long trips through mountain passes. With Thu's encouragement, we included several activities we'd almost certainly have passed up... including a truly great fish soup ($5 for three of us... including my beer!) Thu's English is quite good and he's informative, friendly and _highly_ competent in driving conditions worse than most we've experienced in any south-east Asian country. Thanks, Thu!~
