“Great time had.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2014

I really enjoyed the market, way better than Binh Tanh. The food was good, simple, and tasty. I like to think I could re-create it quite easily. The people...made my day. The tour leader "Dat" and chef 'Thi" ( hope i spelled that right) are both really down to earth friendly guys. They even ended up taking us back to our hotel on their motorbikes, and we met up with them for a beer later. The whole day was a really good experience...Thanks guys

“Really good!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2014

Organised the class very last minute (9pm night before) and got an email response straight away to confirm. We chose two dishes from the menu ( pho and pork clay pot ) and then asked for something off menu which was also provided so they were really flexible. The class was really hands on and the recipes authentic yet simple. I was really happy about the pho which was made using traditional herbs etc but a stock cube which means I can make it easily at home. Was a really fun morning and the guys are great, definitely recommend.

“Intimate informative and fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2014 via mobile

We are a family of 5 & we wanted to attend a cooking class while in Vietnam but never managed to arrange one. At less than 24hrs notice we were able to attend this class, and the discount in June was an added bonus. We had checked out similar classes and some were double the price of ours.
We were collected from our hotel by Dat and brought to his local market. This was a great walk through for us as it was a bit of an eye opener from usual markets. Bowls of live frogs and eels, or chickens being plucked while you wait are not on the usual tourist trail. My boys were fascinated by the stall selling 'money' for offerings and Dat bought them some as a souvenir which was a nice touch. After buying some supplies we walked to the kitchen, via a shop for some beer for the adults and soft drinks for the boys, again courtesy of Dat.
The setting really is ideal for a family group. It was like we were all sat around a kitchen table with our own personal chef. I'm sorry that I can't remember his name but he was very good in explaining what to do and helpful with the boys (13 & 10). Cooking takes place on the balcony and at the table.
There is a wide choice of dishes to choose from the menu. We learned how to prepare and cook fresh spring rolls, fried spring rolls, morning glory salad and pork in a claypot. We had a great morning and afternoon preparing cooking and eating delicious food. We learned loads and were well fed too. It was a lovely way to round off
our trip to Vietnam. I'd have no problem recommending Saigon Family Cooking Class.

“Great day with great people ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2014

We chose to attend the course having reviewed the trip advisor comments and having seen it is very well priced. Dat picked us up by taxi from our hotel at 9 and brought us to Chợ Thị Nghè, a market not frequented by tourists, it was amazing, a holiday highlight. Then we headed to their cooking quarters where Tsi guided us through 3 meals of our choice (you do not want to eat before you do the course!) and we sat and talked and cooked and just had such a great time! It's great that it's private, it's just your group and as there were only 3 of us, Tsi had lots of time to help us. The food was delicious, we got to bring home our leftovers, and it was simple and fun. These guys really make it such a worthwhile thing to do in Saigon, I thoroughly recommend it.

Some friends and I did this. Fun way to spend the morning. Good people and good food. The market was an eye opener but very interesting.
