We stayed at the Somerset for a week during our recent adoption trip to Vietnam.

I had reviewed all of the hotels in Saigon and had decided to stay here, despite our agency's insistence that we stay at the Hotel Kim-do downtown. We couldn't have been more pleased.

We received a very nice three bedroom apartment with two baths and a laundry room. The apartment was extremely clean and the whole hotel is also kept spic and span. There are three large towers around a 25 meter lap pool with baby pool and spa. The restaurant is poolside and has a good variety in the menu (and Cheap!) Despite what others said here about the breakfast, I had a hot fresh-made omelet and toast every day and the wait was never excessive.

The best part of the hotel was the service! We had the washing machine go on the fritz and called down to the front desk. They had someone up there with a whole new washing machine within 15 minutes! They just traded them out! Everyone was SO friendly and accomodating. If you wanted a cab to go downtown, they would have one there in 60 seconds or less.

This is an awesome hotel for families with kids. It is SO kid-friendly. There is a large outdoor playground with a lot of equipment and there is an indoor playroom in case of storms.

I will be sure to stay there again when we go back to Saigon!

This is a lovely apartment complex and the 3 bedroom apartment was very spacious and just what we needed at the end of a 3 week trip. It provided a lovely haven at the end of a busy tourist day.
Beds were so comfortable and the furnishings were of good quality. Pool was nice and staff very helpful and friendly.
But the breakfasts were a shambles. When you pay approx $500 AUD per night you would expect someone to be able to produce a hot breakfast in a reasonable period of time. All of the breakfasts were always cold - even the toast!. And they take forever and never quite get the order right. We stayed in much cheeaper accommodation where the service and breakfasts were much much better.
On our final morning we needed to check out by 7:15 to get to the airport and you would think that if breakfast began at 6:30 we would have plenty of time, assuming we had packed everything up before breakfast. Well, 7am and we still hadnt been served. It was laughable.
So, my suggestion is stay there if you need a bit of quiet respite and space. Make your own breakfasts (although they are included in the price so that is a bit of a rip-off) and you will feel a lot happier.
Yes, it is lovely but not sure that it has that 'wow' factor when you take it all into account, considering the price.

Stayed at the Somerset Ho Chi Minh City for 5 nights. We booked a 3 bedroom apartment with breakfast. The apartment was very spacious and had a balcony. The master bedroom had an en-suite bathroom and a TV, one bedroom had a single bed and the other bedroom a double bed. There was one other bathroom with a shower and an extra toilet. Before I had booked I asked for the floor plan of the apartment which they sent me by email.

The lounge was very big with a nice sofa and a big dining table and the kitchen was spacious equipped with a big fridge, microwave, cutlery, etc. Everyday they would put a few bottles of water in the fridge.

There was also an extra room for the washing machine and there you could also dry your clothes.

For breakfast you could choose between continental, american or saigon whch you could ask to be delivered to your room (at no extra cost) or you could have it at the Palm restaurant which is just next to the swimming pool.

On site there is also a small grocery shop, a tennis court and gym.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and when they discovered that we had accidentaly dropped VND1.5m under the sofa they sent us the money.

The location isn't too bad either. If you walk you can be in the centre in 20 min you or there are plenty of taxis in front of the hotel and it will take you about 5 min.

We have just got home (Adelaide, South Aust) today after staying at Somerset HCM for 8 days with our 12 yo son and 10 yo daughter.
We are frequent travellers, and generally stay at high quality hotels, this facility met all our expectations and more. We stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment, which was massive, definitely room to spread out. The apartment was very clean, with modern decor, and comfy beds, and no adjoining walls to next apartment so it was quiet. The most noise heard from within the apartment was the whooping noise made by a monkey that resides near by, which was nice to hear anyway, not something you hear back home! The staff were amazing, very accommodating to anything we wanted. There is an onsite cafe that was fine, not a huge menu, but good quality food for a very reasonable price. Dinner for our family at this cafe cost around $20 Aust, cheaper than a meal at McDonalds at home. There is a good selection of both western and asian food, fast service, and always with a smile.
The facilities are great, a 25m pool and spa, a tennis court a well equipped gym, the kids where happy to spend a few hours at the end of the day around the pool.

Internet access at the site was reasonable, US$5 for 2 hours , US$20 for 24hrs, comparable to other places we have stayed at throughout Aust and Europe.
There is an onsite mini supermarket with a good selection of all the essential emergency supplies, a little bit more expensive than buying them elsewhere, but this is to be expected of a resort shop.
We have been very happy with our time at the resort and thank the staff for outstanding service.
I would highly recommend this resort for anyone travelling with children.

3 of us stayed here in November and each wanting a seperate bedroom! Hotel prices way too high so this place just hit the spot.
Great location, good breakfast and great rates if you have a Citibank credit card although no one ever asked to see it!!
Nice for jet lagged arrival can wonder at will and not disturb the others, watch TV in living room make a drink, raid the fridge etc

Home from home!
