This hotel is rated “the best in Saigon” which I think is a little over statement..
The hotel is OK not a lot more, it’s located in the back-pack area (not bad but not the best), rooms are clean and the deluxe rooms also quite roomy. Bathrooms are clean. No lobby and no breakfast. Its defiantly not a deluxe hotel and even as a comfort-level it’s just OK not much more, the question is is it realy worth the price which is much higher than other hotels in this category

Got back today. 3 nights at An An Hotel.
Nice big room and one of the few to allow us to book online with two adults and two kids. Three single beds and an extra mattress for US$50 a night.
TV with all cable channels for kids.
Coffee chop attached out the side that makes great Cappucinno for US$1.
Bathroom fine and clean with great water pressure and hot water.
Location is the best reason to stay here. There are hundreds of tiny hotels around this area - every house has a shop at the bottom and about 5-10 storeys of fornt at 5-10m wide. They all rent out rooms. For backpackers you wouldn't have to book as there is everything there from dorms to expensive hotels. You just have to walk round and check.
1Km Walk to Ben Than markets and small backstreets and cheap restaurants abound.
3Km to Hydrofoil to Vung Tau.
4 and 8 yo daughters and wife and I.
Great shopping for tourist stuff like hats, sunglasses, TShirts etc...
Food was best I have had in Asia. Beef Salads, Soups and lots of affordable Western dishes at most of them.
From the street hawkers cheap Vietnamese crusty rolls with cream cheese for 7000Dong (about 45cUS).
I found one supermarket. Small but beer at 8000Dong per can San Miguel.
Beer at restaurants cost about 18000 - 25 000 Dong (about US1 - $1.40)
We caught the ferry back from Vung Tau (hour and a half on hydrofoil to a sleepy seaside town. Quiet during the week and packed at weekends with local tourists). An An hotel let us keep our luggage at the hotel for a few hours transit. Lovely lady working at front desk. Great place.

We splashed out on a 'luxury' room for US $50 per night and had great views from the 11th floor. The room was a good size, very clean and comfortable. The location was convenient for the main tourist areas and nightlife, but we had no problems with street noise. The reception and travel desk staff were very friendly and helpful - and even brought us an amazing birthday cake! We would stay here again.

We travelled with young children. Rooms were very clean and spacious. in-room Safe provided. Would recommend families going there on a budget. Good location. Walk to Ben Tanh Markets and tourist sites. Staff very friendly and accomodating. Great rates for tours. Neat bedding. Bathrooms clean. We paid $55 AUD per night. Felt very safe for a family with children walking around. Friendly and prompt service. Lift was small but fast. No pool but very good value for location.

I travelled throughout Vietnam and stayed in a variety of hotels ranging from $15 to $275 a night. I stayed at An An hotel for a few nights when I arrived in Vietnam and another night after a Mekong tour I took through Sinh Cafe (which was actually amazing). I also stayed at the highly rated Bich Duyen a month later when I returned to Saigon to depart for Japan.

The hotel is an an absolutely perfect location, a stones throw away from De Tham. The sister location is actually located on the intersection of De Tham and Bui Vien, though I quickly tired of the area. The rooms are large, the internet is free and fast, and the front desk will convert dollars to dong. The bathrooms are nice, with a tub separated shower. There is an elevator, and although slow, saves you a long stair ride.

At ~$55/night, I would think that An An is one of the more expensive hotels in the area. There are definitely cheaper lodging solutions around, but I doubt any of these accommodations are nicer.
