“Great Value for Money 3 Star Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

I originally booked for 2 nights and ended up staying 4 nights. I read many reviews on this hotel before booking and would like to rectify two negative comments, firstly regarding the comment that there were no cups in the room, this is not true there were two cups and saucer in the room and tea bags were provided daily. Secondly regarding no buffet breakfast I havecstayed in several 3 star hotels in HCM that did provide a buffet breakfast which was a limited and the food cold. I enjoyed the choice offered in the upstairs terrace breakfast restaurant and everything was individually prepared and served hot. All staff were very friendly but I would especially like to thank both Daniel and Kelvin whose English was very good and they went out of there way to assist me. Although listed as two and half stars I would certainly put this hotel in the 3 star backet. I would stay there again. If you are looking for a 3 star hotel in central HCM that is great value for money look no further than the Saigon River Boutique Hotel.

Room Tip: For a Superior twin room request 503 or 403 which are at the rear of the hotel and are quieter, for...

It is very heart warming and rewarding to read kind and generous reviews for our guests. It is our aim to care for each guest in the best and most personal manner and I have total confidence in our staff, that they really enjoy their work and feel rewarded by offering good service.
Our chef has been with us for some time and continues to develop her skills, through a genuine interest to learn and to providing a quality product.
Thank you for coming to stay and for in fact extending your stay and I feel certain your open generosity would have ensured you had many wonderful experiences in SE Asia

This small hotel is a beautiful example of a modern day design in good taste. The staff and owners are exceptionally friendly and helpfull, and speak english. The rooms are modern and clean with nice private balcony on street facing rooms. We enjoyed breakfast , dinner and drinks in the lovely rooftop " sky bar"-type dining and bar area. Prices are reasonable, even for the mini bar!

Thank you so much for taking the time to review our hotel as you travelled on in Vietnam and I am glad that our staff took care of you well. I am so proud of our staff who consistently aim to main each guest stay a rewarding one, with spirit and often humor.
The hotel has been extensively renovated our quite recent months and we aim to provide a more contemporary environment than usually offered in Vietnam.
The roof top terrace is an intimate place to relax and offers attractive river views which really sparkle at night, but I remember that the finals of Wimbledon accompanied with some enjoyable Bordeaux wine took priority.
Thank you for coming to stay and I hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back in the near future.

I stayed here only one night... but location was just perfect... didn't need to take a taxi or tuc tuc. Rooms not very fancy, but for the price.. you can't complain at all. People at desk were nice and friendly. Rooms comfortable. Not fancy but clean, safe and I slept well. Staff super friendly and helpful.

It is always good to receive customer feed back, so thank you for taking the time to write your review on Trip Advisor.
We took considerable time waiting for the opportunity to open a hotel in such a prime location in Sai Gon, after successfully operating a hotel on the comparatively remote Island of Phu Quoc.

My objective has always been to provide 'simply the best' and the stylistic direction overall is contemporary classic European design. Some see this as simple and others as luxury and if course not all rooms are exactly the same.

Not all the staff are exactly the same either of course, but have to say that I am proud of them all. We always endeavor to include a broad educational component with our staff training and the staff have embraced this opportunity, as much to our delight, as to our guests and it has also provided a valuable foundation for our young staff's future.

Hope one day we can welcome you back, but for now enjoy your travels.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

Booked one night here and ended up staying 3, then returning again for our final night in Vietnam so a total of four nights. Three of us had the family room on the 6th floor, with a little balcony, nice bathroom and comfy beds. To us it seemed like luxury after travelling for 2 weeks in 1 and 2 star accommodation. The location is great, in the stylish Dong Khoi area, with a short walk to the river, and the Ben Thanh district, and lots of attractions nearby.Yummy breakfast is served on the rooftop, and it makes a nice place to sit with a beer or wine in the evening, with a sneak-peek at the river. But I think the best thing about the Saigon River Boutique are the people who work there, so friendly and helpful, and attentive. Kelvin and Daniel had a million questions & requests from us, all of which they answered with sincere smiles. They even organised a take away breakfast for us when we had to depart early. This is the perfect choice if you want somewhere central to District 1 with a little luxury and a lot of heart.

Room Tip: Family room on 6th floor has a massive window and little balcony.

Thank you so much for your generous review, as it is easy to be consumed by day to day issues, on returning home, after ones travels.
We are quite passionate about providing a special place for our guests to stay and have done a lot to bring about a creative change to our hotel. Of course the physical changes pale, if one does not feel there is any real communication and care provided during ones stay.
I love hearing positive feed back, particularly about our staff, as I am enormously proud of them and feel rewarded by witnessing the staff's professionalism. Many people chose employment in hospitality, but the numbers drop dramatically, once it comes down to genuine customer care.
Our hotel is small and our approach with our guests is to provide an informal, friendly and fun place to stay and of course when our guests are like yourself, then our roles are always become a pleasure.
Thank you again for caring to express such a positive review.

Only stayed 1 night but wished we could have stayed longer. Lovely boutique hotel, amazing attention to detail from the stylish lobby to the gorgeous roof terrace where breakfast and other meals are served. Would highly recommend staying here, such a warm and friendly team who made us feel so welcome.

Thank you for your positive comments and it may have been that you were only a guest for one night during your travels, but how rewarding it is for both parties, the guest and management, when you meet and instantly get on well.
I sometimes have to remind myself that I am communicating with guests and not just with old friends, as at times it seems like one continuous party. Is that not good? We are so fortunate to have so many really lovely guests, with some only able to be with us for a short period and others either staying for some months or perhaps are guests who make repeat visits. Really all are welcomed as part of the Saigon River 'family'.
Our hotel has only been open a relatively short period in Sai Gon and we continue to define and make improvements in all areas that will make our guests time with us a special one.
Many thanks again for your review and hope one day we can welcome you back, should you journey again to SE Asia.

This hotel is well located in Saigon's Old French Quarter a few steps from Dong Khoi Street (previously Rue Catenat) made famous in Graham Green's novel "The Quiet American". It is surrounded by 5 star big brand hotels but its contemporary design, stylish interior and friendly homely appeal more than competes with its rivals. Major attractions such as the Opera House, Old Post Office and Notre Dame Cathedral are close at hand and Saigon River a short walk. A feature of Saigon River Boutique is its roof top bar and restaurant, which looks over to the Saigon River. Here we sometimes took breakfast with Graham the owner and had long informative discussions about life and culture in Vietnam. Our room was stylishly modern, comfortable and well kept with a small balcony which unfortunately looked out on a refurbishment project. Service is excellent being both helpful and attentive but using the words of Sir Elton John "Daniel your a star" - Daniel is the assistant manager with the unique hairstyle!

Room Tip: Choose a front facing room with balcony overlooking the atmospheric street

Talkative Graeme 'The Boss' responding, also sometimes referred to by one staff member as 'Mr Stickler' . I am proud to say however that I have been able to now hand that title back, as many staff members have now become 'Mr Stickler's' too.
Once again I have to say we have great and appreciative guests coming to stay with us, so thank you for writing a guests review. I am so happy some of my advise made your time in Sai Gon a more rewarding one.
Sai Gon is truly an amazing city and despite the global economic down turn, the city continues experience amazing growth. Some projects have stalled, but many continue, I guess in part, simply because growth continues, driven by SG being one of the works most densely populated cities.
I am basically a country guy and I am in awe of the growth and excited seeing so many buildings continuing to spring up all over the city. So one has to keep this in mind in relationship to your travel experience. Sai Gon is a huge city and a noisy one. It has also become once again, the pulsating and exciting that it had been from the French Colonial days, until pre 'American War' , as it is called in Vietnam. Anyway I guess I should be saying Xin Loi ( VN for excuse me) for the noise, and hope your time in SG was not too disturbed.

we stayed two nights here and loved it. the location of the hotel, and the friendliness of the staff, Nigel and Kelvin were fantastic. we had a problem with the room AC unit the first night and were offered another room, no problems.
Graham the boss, was friendly and helpful with knowledge of where to eat and visit...

Room Tip: the front rooms were noisy as there was building action going on outside.
