Theres not a lot else I can say about the museum that hasnt been said in the other reviews but it is definitely worth a visit..
Although it is shocking at times its very unassuming and its interesting to see the Vietnamese side of the war from their point of view. . There is a collection of aeroplanes, helicopters, tanks, guns, and a bomb the size of a car .
Just 1 thing Id like to add that I will never forget. While we were there a man came to us selling books. He was living proof of the horrific injuries many people suffered . He had 1 leg, half of 1 arm was missing along with an eye and a large chunk of his face. We chatted to him, he told us he was injured in the war. We bought a book off him (his only source of income) which has the print missing off half of the pages as we found out later. No wonder he told us not to look at it unil we got outside.

Not a high-tech, interactive museum as you might see in the west, more of a photo-documentory of the 'American War' as it's known in Vietnam.

Shocking, moving and disturbing at regular intervals - all tourists, in particular those of the brash, American type you see around the city, should be forcibly made to visit this museum. It shows the other (vietnamese) side of the war - the one that most in the West have never seen and the suffering and tenacity of the people will put into perspective the whole of your visit to Vietnam.

It's easy to forget that it happened 40 years ago - maybe not so easy to forget if you come to visit the museum or happen notice some of the victims of Agent Orange on the remainder of your trip.

The War Remnants Museum is by and large a photo and weapon collection from the Vietnam/American War. Of course, it's from a Vietnamese communist viewpoint and can be a bit propagandist; but that's what makes it interesting.
I found the exhibit of photos of and by famous war correspondents to be greatly moving. Additionally, I was both enlightened and appalled by the exhibit on America's use of Agent Orange and other chemicals. Visitors will be both intrigued and disgusted by the display of two deformed human fetuses in bottles. They're making a point, but I'm not sure they really need to go there.
Don't miss this important history and communist propaganda lesson. A must see in Saigon!

Very interesting to see what the war meant to the Vietnamese people. I had only seen American movies and documentaries about the war and in this museum you get the communist side of the story (many south Vietnamese people worked for the Americans, the museum doesn't tell their story, it only tells about the communist victory and about what they see as the war crimes of the Americans). Interesting though.
