“SO ELEGANT MISS SAIGON"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2010

we arrived in Saigon from Australia and were instantly glad we had booked to stay at the CARAVELLE ..it is in the best location and has an elegant charm that won us over we were tempted to upgrade our room to the signature room on arrival but we loved our Deluxe room so much we would not have changed a thing. cool down on the roof top bar..treat yourself at the beauty salon they do great colour on your hair, indulge in the fantastic buffet breakfast, sleep in the best bed in Vietnam as voted by us to be the most comfortable..we stayed up till 3am the first night and were lost in the charm of Saigon..the people are gentle souls with big hearts and Miss Caravelle you are a very classy lady 3nights was not enough...thank you allan and susan xoxo special mention to the bellboys outstanding and to the cocktails

Excellent location, right next to the opera house with many nice shops, bakery, cafe and restaurants near by (recommend Lemongrass restaurant, excellent food and its only 2 minutes walk from hotel). Our room is on a higher floor with astonishing city view. Room is huge, bathroom shows some cracks but its very clean. My husband said he could hear flushing sound coming from upstairs bathroom, I could not. This hotel hosts a lot of tourists from all over, but it does not diminish the quality of service, all staffs are friendly and very helpful. Hotel is about 30 minutes taxi drive from the international airport, we had a tour company pick us up charging US$60, when we left, the taxi ride only cost us US$5!

- Location just opposite Hyatt Hotel
- The room rate is good value compared to Hyatt (which is about 20-30% more expensive) and Grand Hotel (which is 20-30% cheaper)
- Rooms and Bed were spacious
- We got 1 river view room and a normal room(lowest rate room)... price difference was neglegible, but I feel that the normal room had a better view. The river view shows the river but a bit too far away, while the normal room had view of the opera house, Post office, and Notre Dame Cathedral.... which was a better panoramic view.... (I've attached some photos)
- The non-smoking room had a smoking smell, once i entered the room, the Bell also noticed it and informed housekeeping for me, which was qiute good service (though expected at usual 4-5star hotels, i think in Vietnam this is considered quite good)
- The airport pick-up service is superb. HOwever that price was too expensive. about $60 (vs. $8-10 for regular white-green Ma Linh taxi). The Hotel's pick up was a New Mercedez Benz equiped with Wifi for internet and offered cool drinks upon getting in car. I would recommend it for 1st timers who are ladies travelling alone. (For transportation, for those who come in 2-4 people, i would recommend the taxi service counter before exiting the airport, SASCO, they charge about $13 for one-way)

We got a corner room with a great view of the city and the river. Service was 5*star quality even though we didn't need much service. The room was very clean and elegantly decorated. Everyone smiled and acknowledged us.

The Caravelle is a older hotel, well maintained and centrally located in HCMC. I highly recommend staying there. The check in was fantastic with staff meeting me at the door and accompanying me to the room to complete the process, this was a very fast and friendly service. The bed was just beautiful and comfortable, and I loved the products used in the bathroom. Price was also outstanding (Signature) with access to the lounge with excellent happy hour. Worth the visit.

The Hotel with many plusses. Firstly, to start with This Hotel has a great location, the main attractions, places for sight seeing are close to the hotel, not more than 10-15 minutes of walking distance and the Hotel has one best address to stay in Ho Chi Minh city. All big and branded Hotels close by. The Sheraton share the common boundary wall. Good Restaurants, one of the great Night club in the Hotel with Latino Music group doing live music, was a great experience and good fun. The Swimming Pool bar and Gym, was good with all modern facilities. The City view, as well as the River view was good. Food was nice and enjoyable. The two things which lacked to make it perfect was firstly a small lobby, reception or sitting area and secondly that there was no green space or lawns in the Hotel. The Hotel staff was nice and friendly and went an extra mile to make you comfortable and cater to your needs. The other Guest we met at the Hotel, were also happy with the Hotel. The price was little on the Higher side, we paid in excess of $200 a night, but with the overall experience, one would not regret paying the said amount.

Stayed in Caravelle Hotel from 16 to 18th Nov 2010. The best thing I like about this hotel is the helpful staff and warm service. This is the first 5 star hotel I've been to who have a staff accompanied us to the room and showed the facilities. Also, all the staff are very friendly and looked passionate about their jobs.

The beds are super comfortable! And everything in the room are nice and considerate. The hotel is very conveniently located in centre of District 1, 10 mins walking distance to most tourist spots.
