“The only place to stay in Saigon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

If location counts, stay at the Caravelle!! Our 19th floor room overlooked the Opera House and the city skyine. Large, comfortable rooms, first class service everywhere and a feeling that the staff were genuinely happy to see you.
After a long journey from the UK, we spent a little time relaxing by the 7th floor pool - a lovely spot for a light lunch and a local beer.
Breakfast selection is extensive - everything anyone from around the world might want.
The Siagon Bar is a must!! Historic connections with war correspondents, but the night-time view is super. Cocktails, live music and attentive service with the temperature around 30 degrees.
If you are going to Saigon, his is the place to stay.

Room Tip: Go for a high floor with city views.

We spent a week in Vietnam, traveling down to the Mekong Delta and looking around Ho Chi Min City. While in HCM we stayed at the Caravelle Hotel because if its historical past. It is in an excellent location with many good restaurants, art galleries and places of interest within walking distance. The staff speak good English and could not have been more helpful. The breakfast was first class and the bread was the best I have had outside of France. Rooms were comfortable with every convenience.

Room Tip: City view from high floor is nice

Good 5* hotel, but I think the standard of room and decor is pretty standard for this grade of hotel, the best thing of this hotel is the location, close to everything. Not very good breakfast service

Spent 3 nights in this hotel before commencing Mekong cruise. Room was available before midday so checked straight in. Staff were friendly and helpful. We were on 22nd floor and had great views looking north west and could watch the sun set. Rooms are quite spacious with a couch and 2 more chairs and desk. King size bed was extremely comfortable.
Would stay here again as hotel offers all necessary amenities and service. As others have said it is getting a bit dated.

Close to everything we wanted to see and do.
Enjoyed the pool in the evening when hot and sticky after a day sight seeing.
Lovely breakfast.
Rooms were large with very comfortable beds.
Fantastic view from high level floor.

Room Tip: Ask for view to front on upper floor for best experience.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

Spent 14 nights at Caravelle in February 2013 with my husband. Having done an extensive tour of Vietnam in 2001, we were in Vietnam this time to rest, relax and enjoy the warm weather. Our package included a Suite which was like an apartment, buffet breakfast, access to the Lounge and airport transfers. The reservation was made through Mr. Seator Dir. of Rooms with whom we had prompt e mail correspondence. On arrival at the hotel, we were met by Mr. Seator and a young lady who escorted us to our suite and checked us in.

When informed of my husband's disability, they promptly installed grab bars in the standing shower. The spacious bathroom had a tub as well. We greatly appreciated this prompt service to take care of their guests. Our suite was very spacious, clean and comfortable. A daily fruit platter with tropical delicious fruits, cake or cookes delivered to the room in the afternoon, house keeping twice a day and the friendly smiling staff made our stay a memorable one. For breakfast we went to the main restaurant with a wide array of food. During the day, we had coffee or a fresh fruit drink in the Lounge. They had a few snacks available too. In the evening, with drinks they served hot food, sushi, breads, cheese, fresh fruit, delicious cakes and desserts which were ample food for dinner.

The entire staff in the hotel, we had the privilege of meeting many, were so friendly and served with a smile. When Management heard my husband was diabetic and on insulin, they made certain that he had food with no added sugar. Some hot foods had a sprinkling of sugar - if that was so, special food was made for him. We are extremely grateful for this very generous gesture on their part.

Our suite faced the opera house. Being there duing Tet, we witnessed the performances that went on during the night from our bedroom. The street decorations were something never seen before. Glad we were there during this period, even thougjh most of the markets were closed for a week or so. The hotel was close to shops, malls and markets. An easy short walk or a short taxi ride (taxi's are cheap) took us to places around the hotel. Wished we could have stayed longer and enjoyed the wonderful hospitality and warm weather. Thank you Caravelled and all the wonderful charming staff. Hopefully we may get a chance to come there again.

We upgraded as we wanted to keep our room after normal checkout. Best decision the room was great with amazing view over the Opera House and the quality of the food in the Lounge that was available each evening was excellent. The hotel is a great location as in the heat you can walk out visit attractions and then return for a drink and cool down. Air Con was quite which helped with sleeping. The bathroom was small and little storage space. They also only give you two bottles of water per day. Breakfast was good.Gianog Ngoc looked after us vey well. She was polite friendly and knew our order for drinks within the first day. A great end to our holiday.
