“Unacceptable.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

Though it was located in the heart of the action, this property was dismal. Run-down, large but dirty rooms. One small window overlooking nearby building. When we arrived, I paid cash for an additional bed. Within 5 minutes of seeing our room and the unmaintained conditions of the elevator and hallways, we decided to leave. The manager on duty refused to refund my cash for bed, and refused to refund for our stay. While the bell staff was friendly and helpful, the front desk and management was rude and unpleasant. This hotel deserves one star...for location.

Never a four star hotel. Bed was unbelievably hard. Room was very dark and depressing, looking out on to backs of buildings. Rooms really need upgraded as the carpet was filthy and the paintwork very badly marked. On the plus side the staff were very friendly and helpful but this could never make up for the disappointment of the rooms.

Room Tip: You need to go to the top end rooms in this Hotel I think. Our Superior room had a bed like lying on...

We stayed 5 nights here and we found the location of this hotel hard to beat! we had a suite with Balcony and found it quite nice. The WIFI is pretty bad and for the price not really acceptable.

The rooftop pool is nice but there is ON ONE there ever! If you order a drink it takes ages as the rooftop bar is always closed.

The room was clean and we have no complaints there.

Breakfast was targeted at an Asian audience and therefore not really our thing. However it was sufficient.

Staff were really helpful and spoke good englisth.

Room Tip: Get rooms with windows.

Old style hotel, spectacular location, decent "Lemongrass" restaurant on 14th floor. Rooms comfortable and well appointed but why doesn't this place has good Wifi access in its rooms? Passwords never worked on the floors they were assigned to. Sometimes at 3 am they would open up. This is just unacceptable. If I am paying $100 on hotels.com those readers need to know this. The reason we want access in our private rooms is obvious. I get it: it's free but we want access.

The restaurant at breakfast was just ok...I mean the juices are not juices in the traditional sense and some foods like the pho arent ready on time. One morning I had to wait 30 min for the broth to be ready --and it still wasn't, The omelette maker still won't put salt in the egg as she is cooking it. This is true in all of Asia

Oh yeah, the front desk guys can get a little surly if you speak too fast or they don't understand. Guys, just chill.

Here is a tip: pay less than half for just as good comfort and much better wifi at the King Star Hotel in the 1st on Than Vinh St. And 60% less --even for the VIP room.

We were only staying one night in Ho Chi Minh, so wanted something close to the shops, markets etc. We are pleased that we chose Palace Hotel. Our group booked 4 rooms on the second floor, and they were all clean and tidy. The Lifts / elevators need some renovation, you only get approx 5 seconds to step inside before the doors shut, but this was not a major problem. Most of the nearby hotels do not have a pool, but Palace Hotel has a nice pool on the rooftop ( 16th floor ). There are 8 loungers, 4 in the sun, 4 in the shade, an attendant poolside gives you a towel. There are great views from up here, and a cafe / bar also. Breakfast buffet was included, and selection is quite good. It is in the Buffet Ganh Restaurant on the 5th floor. We went there again for the dinner buffet. It was very popular and crowded, they had to set up an extra table at the back for us. There was a huge selection of all types of food - deep fried bananas, fish, chicken, heaps of seafood, rice, noodles, desserts etc. And price was VND199,000 which is good value. Reception desk staff were very friendly and helpful, they re-confirmed our flights and looked after our luggage after check-out ( since we had a late afternoon flight ). Location is very good here, Night Markets are 10 minutes walk,, Diamond Plaza is 15 min. walk, Re-Unification Palace is 15 minutes walk, and if you don't like walking there are heaps of cheap taxis right outside the reception. It's not 5-star, but we had a very good comfortable stay here and room prices are very reasonable - would happily stay here again.

Hello & Xin Chao,

We represent the talent that has performed for Heineken's New Years Eve Celebration from the United States for the last two years. Every time we stay at this hotel we are overly satisfied with the rooms, room service, reasonable cost mini bar, amazing service, location and specifically the staff. This has become our home location even when we travel to Saigon for personal Vacations as well. Don't forget to check out the roof-top pool !!!
Hope to see you again soon!

Excellent location within walking distance to markets, river etc. Room clean.
Breakfast buffet very disappointing - the worst we have had in our 3 week stay in Vietnam.
Mattresses very hard. Could constantly hear doors slamming. Cigarette smoke evident on non smoking floors.
