The staff was polite without fail. The conceirge was very very helpful with maps and ever ready with directions and suggestions. The room was clean. And the icing on the cake was the delayed check out allowed without any fuss. I would stay there again.

I booked the Duxton with high expectations and as we were greeted from the taxi and swept up the stairs to reception everything so far was looking good. After getting into the room however ( a deluxe double) my dismay soon set in.The rooms are small, the bed tiny compared to other's in Vietnam - just a standard double size and basic bathroom toiletries.
Breakfast was awful here, I asked them to cook my omelette on both sides and they looked at me as if I had asked if I could wipe poo off my shoe into it! Fruit was on display and dried and shrivelled up. The "western" breakfast was swimming in grease and not an exciting prospect.
The swimming pool here is a tiny, even a cat would struggle to have a bath in here.
Overall incredibly disappointing.

This hotel is well located, and is a perfectly adequate city hotel. There are certainly more historic and attractive hotels in the city, so it may depend on price, but you won't go wrong here. Rooms are adequate, breakfast is good, there's a small pool and a bar. You can easily walk to the main Saigon sites from the hotel.

We stayed here for 4 nights and found it quite pleasant. It's a typical Asian city hotel and is geared to short-stay tourists and those on business. The rooms are fairly small and the decor is a bit jaded .......it could definitely do with a lick of paint and some updated furniture. There is a very small pool (their website makes it look much bigger) and a few loungers but it is in shade for most of the day, although it is still refreshing after a busy day sightseeing. The restaurant is really nice and the buffet breakfast is excellent, although do wear something substantial down to breakfast as the air conditioning is freezing (whilst we were there several guests complained that it was much too cold ). The staff were helpful and polite and although a bit shabby the Hotel was very clean and efficiently run. It wasn't overly expensive and I think that we got what we paid for. What it lacked in niceties was well compensated by the location. It was only a short walk to the markets and eateries of Saigon. Whether you're looking for an up-market wine bar or a basic noodle stall, everything is within strolling distance. The Duxton is a good base for a night or two in the fascinating city of Saigon and we're already planning our next trip to Vietnam.
