“Nice and Spacious. Room with a Balcony.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2012

Front-office staff was very friendly and helpful, because i was walk-in guest. The bellhop help me with local do's and don'ts as it was my first time there also.
The hotel room service was good, although had a bit of language barrier and misunderstandings.
Room came with a balcony over looking the city. Awesome!
Their breakfast was less than desirable but usually I prefer trying the street stalls.
Had an enjoyable time there and will consider choosing it again.

There are really ups and downs in staying at this hotel.. The room is clean and and the breakfast is great!! the service is quick too!! Furthermore, the hotel is conveniently located at Pham Ngu Lao St. the backpacker central in Saigon.. 15 minutes walk to the Benh Tanh Market..

However, there are something about this hotel that makes me rate it a 2/5 instead of 4/5.. After arriving in Saigon, we were told that you have to pay $15 for one more person.. there are only 2 of us and it is clearly a scam.. We booked the hotel through agoda.. however, it didn't happen the second time we arrived from Da Nang..

Although everything else is great but I find it hard to recommend this hotel if travelers are getting scammed all the time..

Stayed at the Liberty 4 hotel in December 2011 for 3 nights. We booked a junior suite and we were not disappointed with the room. It was huge with a lovely seting area, small balcony and a really comfy bed. The room we had overlooked the park, however, it was still incredibly noisy but this is not really the hotels fault as I think Saigon nevere sleeps.
The only negative point was: Avoid the bar - it was like a seedy bangkok bar with the bar grils attempting to flirt with any western male in order to gain tips etc..regardless of their wives being with them!

Room Tip: Take a junior suite.

After a delayed flight and a long queue at the visa desk we were keen to get into town and enjoy what was left of our Friday evening. We decided to pay a little above the odds ($12) and get a taxi coupon from SaigonTourist to avoid time and effort haggling. As it was, no sooner had we got to the barriers for the airport parking than the taxi driver was demanding more money. We were stopping and starting for the whole trip with him claiming random extra amounts which we refused to pay. Eventually, when he pointed across a park and said that our hotel was on the other side and could we walk the final bit of the way so he could avoid the traffic, we were glad to get out.

We were not in the best mood when we arrived at the hotel to be told our room was not available. However they took our Hotel.com receipt and said they would upgrade is for one night. We were tired and just took the room offered, resolving to sort things out properly in the morning.

The room, and executive deluxe, was large, newly refurbished and had everything you would expect.

Breakfast the next day was ok. lots of options for people who eat meat and fish to be fair. The only gluten free veggie option (my husband has coeliacs disease so bread and cereals etc are all off the menu) was an omelet. This would have been fine had the chef not opted to drop in a spoonful of ham. We gave up and went to pack up our stuff and move rooms.

The move would not have been too much hassle if we had been allocated a decent room. We had paid for a 'superior deluxe double' but were given a 'deluxe' double. It was not refurbished and pretty grotty with no bath tub. plus in the worst place on the floor with windows looking out onto a noisey generator and backing onto a lift shaft. I went down to the desk and explained we had booked a superior rom. they explained they don't do superior rooms. They instead do 'premium' deluxe' (between 'executive deluxe' and 'deluxe'). Clearly this is just a difference in phrasing between hotels.com and the hotel. We should have been given a premium deluxe room. As they had taken our receipt the day before, something I should have been sharper about noticing at the time, it was difficult to make this point effectively.

We were told we could pay extra to stay in a room without a window, or stay in a room with twin beds etc etc. Eventually we were offered another double room that was refurbished and fine, if a little on the small side. I'm not convinced it was what we booked but was really beginning to feel like I didn't want to spend our whole break arguing.

The hotel is well located. The left luggage set up is efficient and secure. The staff are generally very helpful and the bellboy who arranged a taxi for us on the final morning is excellent. The newly refurbished rooms are really good value and very pleasant. Breakfasts improved throughout our stay, and are definitely better early on (if they run out of something that's it).

I would recommend this hotel but make sure you take two copies of your reservation along and check you are getting the room you have paid for.

Room Tip: Newly refurbished rooms are much nicer (premium or executive deluxe in the hotel's terminology...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here for 3 nights in July. The room was clean and well equipped, although basic. We would definetly consider staying here again if we were to go to Saigon,
We also booked a trip down the Saigon river through one of the booking agents outside the hotel. We were picked up at the hotel, taken to the harbour area and spent the day as part of a small group looking at the tunnels used during the war. We enjoyed a fabulous breakfast on the way and a lovely lunch on the way back. The tour guides were very good at answering questions and shared lots of interesting information with the group.

I stayed for a good whole 4 weeks in this hotel. The service is excellent, room was big and clean, free wi-fi internet and I got laundry included as I was staying there for long. The only downside is the view. It's just rows and rows of houses with clothlines up. My curtains were always shut thru the 4 week period. Also, the lifts were slow...I felt like I would age 10 years with every trip :P The breakfast spread was good with a decent mix of asian and western cuisine. The restaurant on the 9th floor is good to order room service but if you're staying in this part of town there's no dearth of restaurants so you might wanna step out for a meal. There's a nice "pho" place just round the corner from the hotel which serves a mean pho for 50k VND.

Although in a good location, we thought this hotel was definitely overrated. The staff were unfriendly and not very helpful, especially at reception downstairs. The room had minimal facilities and no iron or hairdryer, even on request. On the plus side the sheets were clean and they did have internet access on two computers in the lobby. No need for an alarm clock as there is a rooster that will wake you at 5am every morning, but that may be fairly typical in this part of town.
