We chose the Majestic based on reviews on Trip Advisor and stayed there for one night at the end of our trip. We were looking to spoil ourselves with some five star luxury. The Majestic fitted this bill in many ways - lush decorations and generally impressive building but I wouldn't say the service was overly impressive. Many of the smaller B&Bs made more of an effort to ensure a good stay.

For example, I made our booking through WOTIF and only realised later they were offering a better deal if you booked through their website. I ended up paying a higher room rate and missed out on a free airport transfer. I asked the hotel and they refused to offer a free transfer as offered on their website. We ended up paying $22 USD for a van (even though there were only 2 of us) when a B&B would have charged $12 USD.

The next blow came when we went into our room - which is nicely furnished with slightly dated furniture (think decor that would appeal to a middle-aged buisness man). We had paid a higher rate for a 'city delux' room which should have provided us with a view of HCM. Instead we had a view of an empty office building. After checking with hotel staff we were assured that we were provided with a city delux room. Definitely wasn't worth the extra money.

One of the more positive things was the wide selection of food at the breakfast buffet (which was included in my room rate). However dinner was quite pricey as it came to $30 USD for a spring roll entree and 2 mains (fried rice and noodles).

General impression? A pricey and slightly dated hotel with some grand features. You might as well splash out a bit more and stay at the Sheraton.

I stayed here with my brothers and loved the room. We had a view of the river and the service is tops! We love the buffet breakfast but found our way out to the street for pho more than once.

just in the centre, huge rooms, beds are to die for, breakfast is very good - lots of choice (asian and european) and quality. Super swimming pool in the yard.

You do not want to miss the experience of the Majestic! Whether you enjoy the accomodation or the restaurant, cafe or bar services, or as we did, all of the above. Only downside was the lack of rooms with great views without the somewhat noisy experience of the main road, riverside location. If you are a non-smoker, be sure to ask for a full non-smoking floor-I can recommend the 5th floor, as a number of floors are half-smoking, half non-smoking, but it doesn't really work-you can still smell smoke vapour. It's not inexpensive but you get a great sense of history, Saigon charm and terrrific location.

This is my second time staying at the Majestic, and it was a pleasure again. My company has a $150 USD per diem on hotels, and I was able to negotiate a rate of $145 for a deluxe city view room. I was super happy about this, because I am quite frankly frightened of any hotel in Saigon for under $150. My coworker stayed at the Bong Sen and actually switched hotels during her trip. Maybe she is a bit of a princess, but I was happy to stick with what I knew and enjoyed previously.

The breakfast was awesome, but unfortunately was moved to the lobby (it was upstairs on the terrace last time I stayed there). Great soups regardless, the soups are the best part of the breakfast! Internet was fast and reliable, taxis plentiful, and the location is quite convenient to whatever you may need, including a pharmacy (it had to happen to me sometime!)

I got two massages, the $25 "soft" massage and a $35, 75 minute shiatsu massage. Much to my surprise, the soft massage included being walked on as well! Both were great, but a little painful at times.

The pool is amazing and a great way to cool off in all that unbearable heat.

Overall, love the Majestic! It will continue to be my top choice for hotels in Saigon.
