“i'd go back again.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

i really wanted to take a trip to HCMC, and when i saw the Groupon deal for Ruby River Hotel at 50% off, i figured why not take the deal. needless to say, i was really worried that the place would be disaster, but i was pleasantly wrong.

the hotel is located in District 1, the best area to stay in HCMC as its really near the restaurants and markets, and taxis know where the street is. (tip: write down the hotel address, taxis can't understand your speech, but they can read) great location.

it cost us (2 people) 10USD from the airport to the hotel, and when we arrived, it looked pretty dodgy from the outside, because its pretty much just a block in the street. the lobby is pretty small, the reception on the left, breakfast area in front, elevator/stairs for the rooms on the right, and some computers and couches.. but the staff is great. we also really appreciated the tour services they have, which saved us the hassle of going out to look for tours or to book online.
(online Mekong River tours were close to USD50, but hotel's was only USD25) so take the hotel tours!!

we checked in pretty easily, and we got the Deluxe Room, which turned out great. It was bigger than we thought it would be, and most importantly, GREAT BATHROOM. clean, new, jacuzzi, shower. we had no problem with room service and housekeeping, and we even appreciated the fresh fruit bowls replenished everyday with strawberries, rambutans, apples, bananas, and even mini oranges. 75 TV channels to choose from, mini bar, and kettle.

in terms of noise, i must point out that the hotel is next to a primary school, so it can get a little loud in the mornings. also, you can hear your neighbouring room's water activity because the piping is a little loud too. but all this doesnt matter if you just tune it out, after a while you barely notice it

Just stayed at the Ruby River hotel for a few nights. I found the handy location to the Ben Than market to be it's best feature.
The rooms were relatively clean; there was mold in the shower and a stain on the chair but other than that, it was clean and comfortable.
I found the biggest disappointment to be the breakfast facilities. The breakfast room is a haphazard set up that is actually located in the reception area. The breakfast was below par and there were nowhere near enough seats to cater for the number of guests wanting to eat.
Despite some of my gripes, for the $40 a night I paid for the room, this was a very good value hotel.

We stayed in the Ruby River for three nights upon our arrival in Vietnam. It is just around the corner from Ben Thanh market and the main attractions. The rooms are a good size and beds are comfortable. We had a marble bad with a jacuzzi. Breakfast was just ok but all in all is worth the money.

Could not fault the cleanliness of the room. The room was not large but had a small desk, fridge and wardrobe. Bathroom had a spa bath in the deluxe room. There was a flat screen tv with many english channels. The bed and pillows were firm. Breakfast is served at a small area at the back of the reception and was buffet with mainly asian selections and eggs done 2 ways and bread and fruit. There was not much street noise as was on a small side street but could be noisy when people were in the tiled hallways. Five minute walk to Ben Thanh market. Would recommend this as a resonably priced hotel in a central area.

The rooms are new and big and very comfortable. The bed is large and the bathroom has a jacuzzi. Very nice decorated!
They even offer you a welcome drink, orange juice.
Tea and coffee facilities in the room. The breakfast was delicious.
The staff extremely nice and very helpful. They even helped us to book an auto bus to Mui Ne.
The location is very good, close to the city center.
Very nice stay at a very good price! Would definitely come back at Ruby River Hotel!

I booked the Ruby River from other Tripadvisor reviews and was so glad I did. This hotel is still fairly new and rooms are fresh and clean with lots of space. Good shower and plenty of hot water. Tea and coffee in the room which is always nice. The breakfast was lovely with great choices and the staff extremely helpful and made sure we had the address before we went out incase we got lost. Sadly we could only stay 2 days as the hotel was full and we had to move to a new hotel. Lucky for us it was right next door so we still got to wave and chat to the staff each day. Great hotel, highly recommend
