Just right in front of Ben Thanh Market. very convenient hotel with convenient stalls just at foot of hotel. Wifi in hotel is very strong.
To look for tour agency is a swift too at the De Tham St. Taking a taxi there is very cheap (forgot how much though. However if you choose to walk, it is possible! Just 15 mins!
Lastly, hotel is very clean and neat! Will visit this hotel again if i were to go HCM! :)

Room Tip: (no swimming pool)

Nightmare is an understatement ....considering that everything went wrong the moment we stepped into this hotel. Lift was only big enough for a couple.. Corridors were under construction with fresh paints and cover sheets making you trip. The linens were not changed and hair strands were strewn all across the bed and the pillow. The shower was not working and after not being able to fix it they advised us to go to another room, take shower and then return to the gaudy and sleazy room. .......let me say no more.........

This was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. The location is central but LOUD. The rooms were filthy, with stained sheets and curtains. There were black flies and ants in the rooms and cockroaches in the dining room where breakfast was served. The rooms had air-freshener trees like the ones who hang in cars hidden around the room. The cloying, toxic chemical vanilla smell was unbearable. The shower was designed ridiculously; the tub didn't connect to the wall, so when you used the shower the water went behind and around the tub and flooded the bathroom. The staff was unhelpful and dishonest. The breakfast was inedible, and the dining room was dirty and dark. The decor was hideous and non-functunal. Truly a nightmare place. You couldn't pay me to stay there again.

Unhelpful and borderline rude staff made this hotel very poor though the terrible sound-proofing (as other members report on also) and no rules/standards made the stay unbearable.
At 3am during our stay; when we had a check out of 730am for a flight; we were woken by loud yelling and a smoke detector on our floor.
When we opened the door of our room we saw a prostitute banging on our neighbour's door asking for more money and her cigarette had let the smoke detector off also.
After she gave up and left the neighbour continued the "party" until 7am despite my asking them to cease and complaining to the staff who could not care less.

TERRIBLE breakfast.
Tiny rooms.

Also do not bother booking a car from the hotel (and no doubt TO the hotel either) as this was not booked in for us despite requesting and confirming 3 times! Lucky for us the city has a million taxis so we made the flight though the staff again could not care less!

For the price - we paid $US82/night - you can most certainly find much better!!

Location is perfect right in front of a public market and the night market. Our room faced the market on the other side of the street. Value is great too. Very nice & clean room. Outside tables and friendly staff. Highly recommended.

We spent one night in the the A&EM Phan Boi Chau, and slept very little due to the terrible sound proofing in our room. We could clearly hear our neighbors through the walls and VERY clearly through the door.

The room itself is small and the bathtub/shower setup leaks badly. After two people showering, we had a small flood encompassing about half of the bathroom floor. We did like having the free wi-fi in rooms and the free PC use in the lobby. The bed was comfortable and they did provide slippers, although anything from the consumable area on top of the mini-bar (including the tea bags and instant coffee) cost money.

The location is convenient, although Ben Thanh Market is not our favorite and the surrounding area is quite hectic. At night, there are booths lined up in front of the hotel with loud music blaring. We will avoid this area and this hotel next time around.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

As arranged with the hotel we were picked up by a private car from the airport and arrived at the hotel at 6pm. After having to manhandle our luggage up the stairs ourselves we were informed by reception that our VIP room would not be available until 10pm as the previous occupant had requested to remain till the later time - no doubt paying another days rate for the privilege. We were not happy as we were tired and wanted to go to our room, unpack, have a meal and go to bed. The hotel offered us a tiny 'executive' room to use in the meantime. The room was cramped and hot and quite pointless really as we could not unpack. We decided that this was not acceptable and told reception that we would leave our bags, go have a meal and be back by 8pm and that we expected the room that we had paid for to be ready. It was almost 10pm before we finally had access to our room. It had been cleaned in an obvious hurry as there was an empty water bottle and dried food scraps under the bed, there was a kettle but no cups, tea bags or coffee, in fact there was no tea provided the next day either. We told reception how unhappy we were and said that we felt we should receive some compensation for the inconvenience, I suggested that the airport pick-up would be a nice gesture and the man in charge of reception agreed to this. The room was on the small side and the quirky decor of the room did not appeal to us, however, the bed was comfortable and everything worked. On checkout the full amount of the airport pickup had been charged to our account. I explained what had happened to the day receptionist but was told I would have to pay. After the bad experience we had had and being told we would receive the pick up as a conciliatory gesture I decided to stand my ground. Eventually the hotel manager was called and after much discussion half of the airport pick-up fee was waived. We have stayed in many hotels over the years and this hotel has a lot to learn about customer service.
