“Mekong 2 day 1 night”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2013

Just back from a 2 day trip with Sinh Tourist to Ben Tre & Can Tho. Very efficient and good quality of bus. Guide spoke a number of languages and liked to sing! Standard itinery with several hours on the bus but that in itself lets you watch the changing scenery. Trips on the boat to see the honey farm and candy makers ok but the highlights are the trips on the small boats and the river life in general. I found the fruit orchard interesting too. Overall a good option for those without time to explore the Mekong on your own. Hotel was fine and food provided was all really good (& plentiful).

Sinh routinely use buses that are noticeably older than almost every other company doing the same routes. On our aging bus, the seats were uncomfortable and the air conditioning didn't work, but the main issue was the bus stopping and having to be fixed on numerous occasions during our journey from Mui Ne to HCMC.

We stopped for a break half-way through the journey. We were told it would be a 15 minute stop, but it was 40 minutes before the driver even got back on the bus, having spent the entire time eating. It was around 4pm, not exactly a mealtime so it was irritating that he caused a delay which then disrupted the evening of every single passenger on the bus when it finally got back to HCMC over an hour late.

When the driver eventually returned to the bus, a problem was discovered which took a further 20 minutes to fix, and in total we were there for an hour.

We could have accepted the problems if there was any form of apology or communication of what was going on, even in Vietnamese. There was none.

I emailed Sinh to complain. They said it would be investigated and that someone would get back to me. Weeks later I still haven't heard from them - what a surprise.

Bottom line: there are so many companies in Vietnam that provide better customer service, more modern buses, and charge a similar amount. Please don't waste your money on Sinh!

“Great value for money and a Saigon institution”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2013

Used Sinh Tourist in 2005 when they were still called Sinh Cafe before the fake Cafe was on the scene, and used their open bus ticket from Siagon to Hanoi which was exceptional value and good service.
This time in 2013 we used them twice, for Mekong Delta 2D/1N Tour and Cu Chi Tunnels half day tour.
The Mekong Tour was brilliant and exceptional value for £28 per person including 3 meals, and a 4 star hotel overnight in Can Tho, and all transport/ferries/boats etc. Our guide was very good, and would highly recommend, and a fraction of the price of some other tour operators. And to suit our personal needs, we finished the tour in Can Tho at luchtime on day 2 to catch a flight from Can Tho to Phu Quoc to continue our Vietnam holiday without having to double back to Saigon needlessly
In short our tour consisted of:
Start 0800
2hr drive to Ben Tre
Join boat for tour of Ben Tre delta area through main river and canals
Stop at honey farm
Stop at coconut farm
Jump on tuk tuk from coconut farm to small canal to join canoe boat
trip on canoe boat through small canals to restaurant for lunch
Join another boat for cruise back to Ben Tre
3hr Bus to Can Tho, including joining large vehicle ferry over one of the rivers
Arrive Can Tho around 5pm
2hrs leisure time
Dinner at hotel
Free shuttle bus to Can Tho centre (15 mins away)
Look around night market (Not much there)
time to have drink in city and look at Chinese Temple and Ho Chi Minh statue
Free shuttle bus back to hotel
Overnight at hotel
Breakfast 0645am
Depart hotel 0730am 15 min bus to jetty
Boat to Cai Rang floating market
Spent quite a while around floating market
After market visit Fruit orchard.
Boat back to hotel, arrive 1030am
Check out.
We left tour here, but i believe then 4-5hr drive back to Saigon, stopping somewhere for a break.

Finally, half day Cu Chi Tour for £3 is a bargain, and was ok. Maybe party was too large for 1 guide, we had over 40 in our group, but it was fine and we saw everytgin we wanted. Just a slight lack of personal touch maybe.

“3D/2N Mekong Delta Tour with Cambodia Exit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2013

Like many before us we were hesitant to book with Sinh Tourist because of all the mixed reviews, but we booked anyways. Overall we had a great time with Sinh and were happy with the price paid.

The four star hotel is maybe not four stars on an International level but it was very nice. All the stops along the Mekong were fun and I think this followed a very basic tourist route. Meals were good. Everyone had a seat on the bus and it felt safe. Our guides were really informative and spoke English well. The hotel on the second night was shabby but it did the trick.

Going to the floating towns followed by border crossing by boat was by far the highlight - just make sure you use the bathroom after leaving the Cham Village and before boarding the border crossing boat. You will be on the boat for several hours getting to the border and there are no stops (or toilet).

The only downside was that the Cambodia Sinh Tourist office sucks. When we crossed the border and were at the mercy of our Cambodian tour guide - we were crammed into a hot, sweaty van with AC that barely worked for the remainder of the trip to Phnom Penh (about 2.5 hours). Once you get to the Cambodia office they aren't very nice or helpful either. The ride didn't kill us but I would describe it as rough and NOT at all pleasant.

We booked at the main office at 246-248 De Tham. Staff in Vietnam were professional and helpful and the office was very clean.

If you are considering Sinh Tourist would I recommend it? Absolutely. It's good for people on a budget who want a reliable mid-range to low-range tour. I don't recommend this for luxury travelers or travelers who need high standards the entire way.

“Great company,we used them many times and were very happy.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2013

The first time we used them we booked a trip to the Cu Chi tunnels just outside Ho Chi Minh City. The price for a half day tour was 110,000 dong plus another 90,000 entrance fee when we arrived at the site which took about 1.5-2 hours to get to. The guide gave a very informative talk on the way to Cu Chi and spoke good English as he had lived away from Vietnam for a few years. The site consisted of many rooms that would have been under ground in the original tunnels but obviously have been constructed above ground for the tourists. You get to see a short film on the Viet Cong at the beginning and various exhibits including traps they made to kill/maim American soldiers,an area used to take apart American munitions and recycle the contents to make their own bombs. There is also a firing range where you can pay extra to have a go on an AK47/M-16 or M-40 machine gun with guidance from their staff. You can also go down a tunnel which has been expanded in height for western tourists but is still an experience of how hot and dark these places were.Well worth a visit and the price was about £6.00 including entrance for the half day tour.We used their bus service to get around south and central Vietnam and had no problems,it was also cheap and we booked a few more tours with them in various places, well worth it.They were professional and a great asset to get around a strange country.
