“Charming Boutique, Not Sound Proof”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2012

A truly charming experience in SaiGon. Close to the cities cultural buildings and sites, La Jolie takes inspiration from the french in this hotel experience. Modest rooms are classy and comfortable with modern bedding, layout and design. The bathrooms are spacious and clean with ample light and modern as well. The staff was most helpful with good english skills and assisted us with train tickets, taxis and site seeing. In the impressive lobby of the hotel, they always greeted us with smiles. Breakfast was nicely displayed with good choices and great coffee. The hotels Wi-Fi throughout the rooms was strong and consistent, yay! We are working travelers and a great Wi-Fi was a must. We took advantage of the discounts the Spa was offering and were pleasantly surprised with the great service. The Thai Massage is well worth it!!! There are great cafes just a close walk away from this location and it seemed safe for walks at night. I am sad to say, with all of the positive aspects we did have a rather serious complaint: the rooms are terrible for sound and you hear everything your neighbors do. If you are unlucky enough to have a loud person next to you, then you will be woken at 2am when they return because the rooms are not sound protected. When they talk you hear their conversations, and when they are in the restrooms you hear everything!! All sound from the hallway comes right into your room as well. We did not sleep well in this hotel because of the noise created by other guest throughout the night. I wish the hotel would improve this and it would easily gain a great reputation with people who are looking for a more sophisticated experience, and not just a good value. It was this reason why I could not give it a higher review. Beautiful, boutique hotel but serious sound problem in the rooms. Otherwise, wonderful! Thank you staff at La Jolie, you were wonderful with us 'first-time travelers' to your country.

We had a four day stay in Saigon and had booked into one of the A&EM hotels which was definitely sub-standard. So we took off on the morning after our arrival and found the new La Jolie on Thi Sach Street which was offering a 30% discount. The rooms were quiet, spacious and very clean. The location was very good and not far from the river and the opera house. But the best of all was the friendly service and helpful staff. Buffet breakfast with a huge variety of dishes was included and set us up nicely for the day. Thoroughly recommended.

Room Tip: The hotel is not on a busy street and although we had a room facing the street, it was well insulate...

The rooms are very clean and have the little extra things that makes you stay enjoyable. There is nothing to complain about concerning the rooms and the breakfast is very good. It is a nice sanctuary in the chaotic city. The price/value ratio is really great here. The staff can be very direct and sometimes lack a little subtleness, but is very dependable and helpful at the end of the day. There is a spa facility on one of the floors. We can highly recommend this hotel.

I agree with all the negative reviews. this place has paper thin walls, a terrible breakfast (trust me were not fussy but it was crap!) and some staff that seem to preoccupied with their phones.
we arrived with two pre-booked rooms via Hanoi travel agent. they had to upgrade one room which was the only bonus!
rooms very clean and bed very comfortable, shower in spa bath was great. The standard room is a dog box as no window other than to hallway, very claustrophobic...no joy in changing. in the deluxe room the Duff Duff music starts about 9pm and never stops.....kept the tv on all night to try and drown it, then ended up drowning myself in booze night 2 to get to sleep...that worked.....hard to be positive so avoid room 204 and 107 if u dont like close spaces and nightclub music....perhaps the top floor is the best, doesnt matter as we wont be back!

We stayed at La Jolie on the very last night of our Southeast Asian holiday - and my husband's birthday - and we were delighted with it. Reading the two previous reviews, I almost wonder if this was the same hotel!
We booked our room on Agoda (for a very reasonable rate) on the morning itself, as we had spent the night before in a tacky hotel a block away and had put up with noise, a room switch, and bugs. Before we had breakfast, we sat at the PC looking for something within our budget and close by, and La Jolie is what we found.
It was too early, of course, to check in, but the staff were lovely and tagged and stored our bags for us while we went off to do some exploring. My husband had - in his haste to book online - filled in the wrong date, but the manager promised us that he would honour the booking.
When we returned at one o'clock, we were informed that we had been upgraded from a Deluxe to an Executive Room, which was an unexpected treat. The room was beautiful, very clean and well equipped, a little more ornamental in style than I generally like but luxurious compared to our usual, simpler lodgings. We had a partial view of the river, a huge flat-screen TV, a double Jacuzzi bathtub, and the most comfortable bed of the whole trip.
I had read the Tripadvisor reviews AFTER we booked, and was a bit worried about the noise from the nightclub, but one of the previous reviewers mentioned it being less noisy through the week, and I think that's true, as we stayed on a Monday night and I had no trouble sleeping.
I also really enjoyed the breakfast buffet - after a month of baguette and omelet, it was a feast. Everything I tried was fresh - the chicken wings were very tasty - and the coffee was excellent, too.
Everyone who worked there was friendly and helpful. When they upgraded us, I told them what a nice birthday present it was, which they first thought was a joke, but when we returned from the birthday dinner (at Cuc Gach Quan) they presented a little framed woodcarving of the Reunification Palace to my husband as a gift, which I thought was very sweet.
I am at a loss to explain why my experience differed so much from that of other reviewers. We would certainly stay there again, with great pleasure (though maybe not in the weekend if the nightclub is as loud as people say).

The rooms at this hotel were quite nice, clean decor with a French twist, however the hotel staff are very rude and were exceptionally unhelpful. We asked the manager to recommend a marketplace to go to, in order to buy clothes and bags- tourist things- and he sent us to the middle of no where- specifally a food market- and when we asked why he would send us there, he merely laughed and asked "well why wouldn't you want food?". Breakfast is included, it's a buffet, however is absolutely disgusting, all food provided at this hotel is mortifyingly unpalatable. Additionally, we could hear the people next door using the bathroom! Showers, toilets, baths, you name it, we heard it!! Overall the rooms were nice, but very loud.

I stayed in the suite which had a nice view and was very clean. Unfortunately, that is the only positive.

1. There is a nightclub next door and loud rave music beats and vibrates through the room from 10pm-4am.
2. You can hear next door using their bathroom.
3. The room service food is disgusting. I'm certain that my meal was reheated leftovers.
4. Massages are average and overpriced
5. Staff struggle to understand basic instructions and are unreliable.

There some amazing boutique hotels around HCMC...stay anywhere but here!!
