“Good quality hotel in a central area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2012

The hotel is centrally located in District 1 not far from the shopping districts and the big 5 star hotels on one of the major roads in the area. This was not really an issue for us as our rooms were located at the back of the hotel, and generally were pretty quiet. We were given an upgrade to a family suite, which was good, given the superior room we originally booked was fairly small. This is OK for 1 person, but a bit small for 2. The staff in the hotel were very accommodating and friendly. The spa which is recommended by the hotel was excellent and highly recommended. It is not on the premises, but the hotel provides you with a free taxi service to get you to the spa (only 2 minutes away), and it is within 4 minutes walk.
Breakfast was fine. Wifi access was somewhat limited, but OK.

Room Tip: Chose a room at the back of the hotel if possible. Internal rooms only have windows which overlook...

In a manic city like Ho Chi Minh a central location, as District 1 is, is essential. the hotel was very acceptable with our upgrade priving a room with 2 double beds and all other necessary facilties. Brakfast was provided at no extra cost which represented good value for money.
The traffic in the city is greatr than I have ever seen anywhere in t eworld with there being more motor bikes than people. that represents millions!! Crossing any road is an adventure greater anything you canimagine. One major collision betwen a car and 3 folks on a motor bike was the only real incident
A highlight was our boat trip up the Delta to the Tunnels where the Vietnam War action was so problematic for the Yanks and a result of the sheer nature of their construction was facinating but harrowing at the same time.
We travelled to Vietnam from Cambodia by bus and ferry which was interesting and I suggest that a visit to these countries should be taken sooner rather than later before the volume of tourists change for ever the primitive nature of the places.

09 for the location of the hotel. We came from Singapore with JetStar Airlines and as pre-arranged we have been picked up at the Airport in HoChiMinh City by the hotel Hai Long 5 and it was at about 21:00 (9pm) at night.
04 for the organisation regarding the room reservation. On arrival at the hotel they asked us whether we have booked a room with them. We said yes; we have booked and paid with Expedia for 2 nights in a Deluxe room at Hai Long 5 Hotel and we also received a written booking confirmation from the hotel. After about 5 minutes checking their booking sheets, the receptionist finally confirmed that a Deluxe room has been reserved for us. It is quite strange that they picked us up at the Airport as pre-arranged and then on arrival at the hotel they asked us whether we have booked a room with them.
05 for the room and its facility. For example, in the bathroom: The bath is quite old and high so that you have a feeling that you need 'to climb' into the bath. You can not stay 'under' the shower because the pipe is not long enough so that you need to hold the shower head in your hand all the time when you want to have a shower in the bathroom. It is not acceptable for a Deluxe room like that ! However, the decoration in the bathroom is fantastic: All and around the walls are with granite and marble !
08 for the reasonable size of the room and the room decoration.
04 for the street noise during the day and also at night up to about 11pm.
07 for the friendly good-trained english-speaking management staff
07 for the overall atmosphere at the hotel.
08 for the good breakfast with a good selection of food for breakfast.
We were 2 nights at this hotel in August 2011 and when we are back in HoChiMinhCity next time, we may look for another alternative hotel nearby (just because of the street noise). Apropos, as I have been many times on holiday in HoChiMinh City during the last 3 years, I can say that the location of this hotel is really worth for the reconsideration, as it is in the centre of the exclusive site of the HoChiMinh City and you can walk to banks, shops, restaurants, markets, etc. By the way, this hotel has a quite good lift (elevator). For food lover we recommend a new restaurant just on the corner of the hotel: When you leave the hotel, turm right, walk to next street, on the corner turn right. There is a restaurant on the corner: Not that one! the next one is the new restaurant, just open in July/2011. You can sit downstairs or upstairs. When sitting upstair, you can look down to the street, but you will not hear any street noise : The food is fantastic and the music alone is worth to visit (a good choice of relaxe western music)! Only 5 minutes walk from the hotel, unfortunately I forgot the name of that beautiful restaurant.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a good shower whereby you don't need to hold the shower head in your hand al...

Stayed one night at this hotel with 7 people. Service was good and staff was nice. 2 persons standard room are not too big, but are fine and clean. Not all rooms have windows.
In the evening you might be bothered by the street noise, but only up to 12 o' clock.
Location is good.
Prices on several booking sites are much better than if you book at the hotel desk. Value for money in our case was good, but I wouldn't pay the full price they ask at the desk.

During a recent trip to Asia we booked to stay at Tan Hai Long 3 Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.
On arrival at the hotel (04/07/2011) we were told by the receptionist that we could not stay here because of a water problem. Accompanied by their door man we were taken to a sister hotel where we were accommodated for the duration of our stay.
Manager TRUNG Kien was very courteous. We were put up in a deluxe room at the same price and he both arranged and paid for our taxi back to the airport when we checked out. He was honest and informative as well as running a clean and friendly hotel inside he was keen and helpful in making sure we were safe during our time in Saigon. Other guests gave equally heartwarming stories about his honesty and service. He told us to keep the names and numbers of cabs used after another guest’s taxi driver emptied the boot yet drove off with luggage carried in the car.

We incurred no extra costs and with hind sight, the staff at the other hotel would have had to work hard to provide a better service than the one received.
I would recommend this hotel

The rooms were extremely small, the showers were not working properly and it was noisy so we changed hotel after one night. However it was not so easy to change hotel. They made us call to the internet booking company before we could go. The location is very good though.
