“Fabulous pasta”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

In an upstairs room surrounded by Fawlty Towers and Monty Python quotes, we had a great Italian meal. My pasta was better than many I've had in good Australian-Italian restaurants. There's also a great range of good fine that you can have by the glass. The owner wandered by to make sure that we were happy - and we were.

It is very gratifying, particularly for our chef, Beau Tindall, to receive the thanks and acknowledgement for his work on menus and dishes. This is especially so given his cheffing background in some of Australia's leading establishments. We aim to bring his skills and our service hospitality to HCMC/Saigon and provide a good choice for locals and visitors alike. Thank you for your words: kind regards, Stephen.

“Wonderful! We're delighted!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013 via mobile

We enjoyed our pizza with a glass of wine. The food was very good and the service was among the best we've experienced during our month-long trip through Vietnam. We're going back there for more good food tonight!

“Food OK - overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

With all the hype about this place we had such high expectations which it didn't fulfil. Not a bad Italian restaurant - rate good to average. Service excellent but had much better Italian food elsewhere. Loved the Faulty Towers theme :-) Very expensive.

Thanks for your review and in particular the understanding regarding our decor and the praise for the service and hospitality. I am a bit confused as to the logic and context of your food criticism. 'Expensive or overpriced' is a qualitative and relative term... what appears so to some can be the opposite to others. Readers and myself are not able to understand or compare as we do not know what you based your interpretation on. Was it our Italian or European Australian food or was it your comparison of eating at a range of Italian restaurants in Vietnam?(although your reviews indicate ratings for Thailand hotels and only one restaurant in Vietnam) Did you have our special Imported first grade Australian steak, chips and salad approximately $17 (off course not very Italian) or maybe the imported lamb shepard's pie at $15 ( again not very Italian) or perhaps the imported pork and hand made gnocchi at $14 (yes Italian infused) or perhaps finally one of our gourmet pizzas made with imported flour, imported italian tomatoes, Imported Italian cheeses, imported small goods and imported artichokes, olives and trimmings...not to mention the fresh herbs etc? I recently dined in HCMC on a 3" piece of imported lamb, three thin slices of baby beet and four water cress leaves served with a jus. For this privilege of 3 mouthfuls I was billed $65. it was very nice... and I appreciated the service, the ambience, the staff and the western overheads...compared to a $2 Asian meal ...yes it may be regarded as expensive and yet to a a five star Western experience it may be regarded as cheap. For those desiring quality, good service, imported foods, good wines, coffee and health and hygiene standards, then Casa may be a fair choice. Regards, Stephen

“Heaven”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

We came across this little gem quite by accident, such a blessing, great coffee at last.
Needing a break from the local cuisine, as great as it had been, to discover casa Italian was just what we needed.
Stephen was a very interesting conversationalist, letting us in on the workings of life in Vietnam while we were waiting our meal, his wine list is excellent and affordable, while the cost is a little above the local fare, it is certainly worth it.

If looking for a taste of western food while in Ho Chi Min, we recommend you try out Casa Italia
A plus in Vietnam

Thank you for your kind words and recognition for what we want 'Casa' to stand for. I cannot miss the opportunity here of commenting on the title of your review 'heaven' which reaffirms by definition a great sense of satisfaction and fulfillment. A previous review last week, also very complimentary about our food and hospitality, did challenge our sense of Christian ethics (due to their misunderstanding of our upstairs decor)..... Your use of the word 'heaven'....brilliant.....thank you.
