“Value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2010

A new and clean boutique hotel located near the ben thanh market. There isn't wide breakfast buffet spread, but it was sufficient. The service provided at the cafe is prompt and the servers replenishes the food quickly. Employees at the front desk were generally polite and could speak simple english. The service provided by the bellboys was good. For example, one of them took the initiative to show us the direction. For females who are looking out for cheap manicure and pedicure, a hair salon located just two doors away from the hotel provides such service.

we stayed at blue diamond for 3 nights after flying in from the UK to start our 3 week trip in Vietnam and booked in advance to get a good rate ( ~$55/night deluxe room) through hotels combined. The staff at the front desk were lovely and check in was smooth. The doormen were very helpful and polite and helped us with our bags. The room was spotlessly clean, with a nice amount of space. Glad we took a deluxe room as i saw into the superior rooms while they were being cleaned and though they also looked nice, there was only a foot or so space at the end of the bed and we enjoyed spreading out in our deluxe room. Room was very quiet and the bed very comfy so perfect for sleeping well after a long flight. The aircon worked great. The bathroom was also nice though the bath was missing a shower curtain and my boyfriend had to stoop slightly to fit under the shower head (he's 5' 10). Also, the towels were quite small, more like the British 'bath towel' size rather than 'bath sheet' size that you'd expect in swanky western hotels. I think we were the only westerners staying at the hotel and the breakfast (as well as the bathroom) was quite Asian oriented with pork pho or stir fried noodle dishes available. The continental style items available were baguette style bread with butter, soft cheese triangles, peanut butter, or pineapple jam. There were also hard boiled eggs and unappetizing looking sausages. No cereals but there was fresh watermelon or papaya available. As is the norm here, the orange juice was more like sweet orange squash/cordial than fresh orange juice and the coffee was pretty grim. There's also two computers with free internet in the breakfast room which we only noticed on the second day.

A few problems during our stay. The toilet blocked, but we told staff as we left for dinner and it was fixed when we returned. One evening there was no hot water and we assumed that it maybe had run out, but there was also none the next morning when we'd got up early for a mekong tour so two cold showers in a row was quite frustrating. However, as soon as we reported this to the front desk they sent a doorman up with a spanner and he seemed to magically fix the problem! We did report that the hairdryer in the room didn't work on the first night and that was never fixed, though in fairness we never mentioned it again as we had brought our own. Also there were no prices for minibar items and we had to ask reception for these. Our room wasn't provided with a 'do not disturb' sign so we were woken by a cleaner knocking on the door on one morning. we later noticed that other rooms did have do not disturb signs.

Though were weren't too enthusiastic about the breakfast and had a few problems with the room, none of these were major and were generally sorted out quickly when we told the staff. We did enjoy our stay here, it's a great central location just round the corner from the reunification palace and a stone's throw from Ben than market, and the girls at reception were very nice and helpful, booking taxis, tables for us at restaurants and so on.

We stayed there for a week. The room and the beds were good. The staff all spoke English well. The font office staff members are all graduates and have very good relationship with the customers to provide quality service. The breakfast was good compared to the cheaper hotels around. The negative side is: We used their bar to entertain a couple and there was unusual delay for just to get a coconut drink. It took more than an hour from the time of order. It will only take 20 minutes to walk to Ben Thanh market to get a coconut and come back. Also we ordered dinner and there was a delay with average quality food. It is better to walk to some cafes or restaurants that serve tasty food very fast. But, the hotel is new and these are the teething problems I guess. I am sure this will improve.

Room I stayed in was very clean. They have a 24/7 security team there that are very good. Staff is very nice and speak english pretty well. We payed $40/night for std/deluxe room. The money was worth it because the rooms are so clean. You get what you pay for so if you go cheap expect a room that is dirty and lots of insects at the other cheaper hotels. I slept very good knowing my room was clean. The free breakfast buffet is also pretty good. The hotel is very close to the popular Cho Ben Thanh market. I highly recommend this play to anyone needing a clean and safe hotel to stay at. We stayed here for about 2 weeks.
