My wife insisted that that I and my 15 year son and 12 year old daughter join her for this culturally enlightening show. it came at the highest recommendation from her culturally "aware" friends in Australia.
Gentlemen, don't. I am a regular theatre goer at home and am in Vietnam to experience the culture and sights. I have been very impressed with the country otherwise but this show was the end.
45 minutes of skillfully operated puppets in water accompanied by an authentic Vietnamese band.
It wa sall in Vietnamese [of course I hear you say....but] there was no reading information to even snatch a tiny portion of understanding. The males in the audience were uniformally and visibly bored and restless. The womewn were politely showing interest, feigned though it was.
600,000 dong for 4 and 45 minutes, neither of which will ever be recovered in this lifetime.
My 15 year old son still looks at me quizzically amd runs at the vaguest mention of cultural.
caveat emptor folks.
