“Thank god we stayed at this hotel in HCMC”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2014

I am so glad we stayed in this hotel. We said it about 5 times a day how happy we were that we chose this hotel. HCMC is a big dirty busy city and this hotel is a little haven in HCMC. The other hotels we walked into in the city were very old and tired and i didnt see one I would have preferred to have stayed in. If we had stayed in town as our final stop of a fantastic holiday we would have been very very disappointed. It is a beautiful hotel, everything is brand new. Our bedroom was a standard bedroom and was very big with a very big shower. The pool is so relaxing. The only thing we were worried about was this hotel is in District 2 however it didn't matter as we caught the speed boat into town when we wanted and they gave us a mobile phone to call when we needed to be picked up - it is a 10 min boat road and very relaxing trip. I would stay here again and again and would not bother looking at hotels in HCMC D1. When you get off the speed boat the city is right there so that is not a problem either. My only complaint of this hotel is the service is not spot on and needs polishing. We constantly had to wave the waiters over for drinks and when we were at the pool they were nowhere to be seen (there is a bell to ring but they are slow to come) however this would not deter me from staying here again.

Room Tip: We were on level 1 which was a little loud so i would ask for a room on level 2

Dear Aabeach,

Thank you very much for your kind review. We are happy that you enjoyed your stay with us and liked the boat shuttle into town.

I would like to apologize for the sketchy service which you experienced. Please know that we have addressed your comments on the service, especially by the swimming pool, with our team and we will strive to improve. Many thanks for your feedback.

We do look forward to welcoming you back.

We arrived in Saigon from the Six Senses in Ninh Van Bay and after 5 days of luxury we couldn't have been happier with our choice. We were originally put in a very small room but this was immediately rectified and our room was absolutely lovely! The bed is incredibly comfortable and the aircon fantastic! The food in the hotel is absolutely fantastic and a huge array of choice on a great menu. We took a trip to the tunnels via boat which collected us from the hotel as did the Vespa night tour which was fantastic. The pool is absolutely wonderful, a real oasis of calm with loads of lovely loungers and we seemed to be the only people who used it! We really enjoyed being in the expat district out of town but do be warned taxi drivers have absolutely no idea where the hotel is!

A boutique hotel set in a colonial building on the bank of a peaceful river…. Just what we like! The rooms are very nice, the pool is great and the breakfast by the river very enjoyable. The speedboat service to the city center is very cool and a nice experience. It was always good to get back to the quiet hotel after the busyness of the city center. A special note for the staff, very nice and accommodative, they let us check out quite late and were very helpful. We had dinner at the restaurant the first night and the food is not bad. Looking at all the options in Ho Chi Minh, it seemed by far the most enjoyable one!

A fantastic boutique hotel offering a friendly and very personable service on the shores of the river. The hotel is beautifully designed and everything was very well kept. Our room was a good size with a well designed bathroom.

The service was excellent. Each morning we were greeted by the hotel manager who came to our breakfast table and offered us advice about what to do and where to eat and drink. The hotel also provided a boat ride into town, which is a great way to experience a different side to the city. Taxi's are also readily available in the city so it was also never a problem getting back to the hotel and the ride usually only took about 10 minutes (taxis are very cheap!).

We also thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast, which was cooked from a menu rather than the standard buffet option, and the setting overlooking the river was a great way to start each morning. For those that like their food, there are also a number of very good restaurants in district 2 so no need to travel into the city each night. The only criticism that I would have of the hotel is that the hotel bar could be improved; it's a nice setting but the drinks could be improved with a bit of training.

This is a lovely hotel and a great way to experience Ho Chi Minh from a slightly different perspective. We'll certainly be recommending it to our friends.

Villa Song Saigon sits near the apex of the loop that calls itself Nguyen Van Huong. The loop seemed to mainly serve the expat community. Although you'll eventually find out how to guide the taxi drivers to send you back, for first-timers, it's better to have your GPS readied and your Googlemap saved to help you get there safely. (Ignore the recommended route provided by Google)
I stayed in the Sanctuary Suite, that overlooked the swimming pool, for 3 nights. That's on the third floor but the staff member of the boutique hotel will see that your luggage be sent safely up to your room. Likewise, they will transport it down when you are ready to check out.
The room was impeccably clean and comfortable to stay in. I have learnt that the mattresses were specially designed in-house, hand-stuffed with feathers to create the best comfort for its travellers. I slept really well everytime. Well-done, VSS!
The complimentary mini-bar was stocked with juices and drinks everyday. There are fruits made available but I was just too lazy (heh!). I love it that the hotel cafe opens at 6am, and one can get their complimentary a la carte "breakfast" at any time after that. For most of the mornings, I had spent my time seated next to the Saigon River to enjoy local delicacies.
Talking about Saigon River, one doesn't necessarily have to take the taxi back to the city, in District 1. The hotel provides a shuttle boat service that will take you through part of Saigon River to the city. Talk about style! Except, when you arrived at the city, you are pretty much on your own so remember to bring your map! (Brave the traffic, I say!)
Overall, the stay was excellent. Good pool. A decent gym. Friendly and helpful staff. Delicious food.

I have visited this hotel together with my family and we had a wonderful stay!
The hotel is a very personal, relaxing and quiet place to be. Although it is located 10 driving minutes by complimentary hotel boot shuttle or taxi from the city away it is not a negative point infact due to the hotels location it is relaxing to sit by the river when enjoying breakfast, lunch or dinner. Like all rooms the entire hotel is very modern. The entire staff is very friendly and attentive. The lunch and Dinner Menu offers a variety of western and Asian dishes. In total I can recommend this hotel very much.

Stayed at Villa Song for three nights over a long weekend. The hotel is beautiful and very well appointed, and the setting on the banks of the river is peaceful and idyllic. Incredibly friendly and attentive staff really made the experience.

The hotel is in a quiet (but developing) suburb of district 2, which benefits from being outside the roar of the city centre while still only being 10 minutes by river from district 1 (which you can do in the hotel's own speedboat).

Highly recommended.
