O.K., there are 'Street Food' eateries galore in Ho Chi Minh City, and there’s many places like Bun Bo Hue Yen Do. This is very basic and elemental restaurant serving what I call, ‘Just Off the Street Food’! I've never been a fan of street food, so, stepping into this tiny eatery just off a main drag, with a few tables with proper chairs, was enough to keep me assured to dine here.
A family runs this eatery, and they were very nice to us when we visited to try bowls of bun bo Hue (spicy Vietnamese beef and lemongrass noodle soup). In a spot like this, of course, they don't have room for much refrigeration, so, beers were served warm with ice. Nice! In places like this, it is best to just go with the flow...
Of course, dining here will not be for everyone, that's for sure, as it is a step-up from street food, but, not much.
