“Helpful and friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2014

The place is ok, clean and tidy. The staff there were very helpful and friendly. For the price i paid, i think this is great. If i may stay in this same hotel again, its all because of the friendly people there. The Air conditioner was not very cold though, and the street outside was a bit messy, but again, for the price i paid, i think this is good.

We spent 3 nights in the Cat Huy Hotel. The location couldn't be better, "a quiet residential street" (yes, really) that gets the overspill from the local food market - meaning every morning there is ultra-fresh fruit, vegetables and meat for sale just outside the door - yet a few alleys away from the backpacker's area with it's good, cheap cafes and easy walking distance (if you don't have the $2 taxi fare) from most of the city's main attractions. Our room on the 5th floor (no lift) was very quiet, clean, comfortable and modern with good air-conditioning and large windows and a small balcony overlooking the street. The service was faultless, from our midnight check-in (Mr Danh, the night reception, was particularly helpful and friendly) to our 6PM check-out for the cost of an extra half-day.

Room Tip: Choose a high-up room for more peace and quiet, or a lower room if you don't want to climb so ma...

This hotel feels very homey. We stayed for only one night but was the best place in our entire trip in the price range of $20-30. Very good location. I really appreciated the space and cleanliness. Just feels nice and pleasant.
Advise: 1.a little hard to find off the main road so do your research prior to arrival.
2. If you can offord it, book the delux room it has a giant king size bed, lovely living area & small balcony.
3. If you ever need a snack, this hotel is very close to the shop that sells the BEST Banh Mi in Vietnam!!! Its only 5min walk away. The shop's name is Huynh Hoa. Address: 26 Le Thi Rieng St.
Enjoy!:)

I'll keep this short and sweet since I don't have much to say about this place.

Pros:
- cheap
- big room and shower
- relatively friendly staff (one boy in particular, the rest not so much)
- in district 1, which is considered the backpacker area
- they'll do your laundry on the cheap and quick if you drop your stuff off at the front desk
- could arrive late, ring the bell and they'd answer quickly

Cons:

- no elevator, prepare to lug your stuff up stairs. Not fun after a long flight and in vietnamese heat.
- the place is down an alley way and you have to walk through a small market area to get to/from
- cash only on checking out was inconvenient, had to run to an ATM and was already in a rush
- female that worked there wasn't particularly helpful, asked about taxi on check out to get to airport and she just told me to go to the Main Street and waive one down, instead of calling one which is what most places would normally do
- only got 2 bottles of water upon check in, no other water provided on subsequent days
- crappy towels
- minibar wasn't restocked after I used it...
- breakfast, I had a small thin omelette and horrible coffee on my first morning and never ate breakfast there again ...

All in all, great if you're a backpacker I guess, but for me, I wouldn't stay here again.

My family and I stayed at Cat Huy for 3 days and 3 nights and absolutely love it. The service is great, breakfast is good, and the price was really cheap for the comfort and cleanliness of the rooms. Their staff is really friendly and helpful.

We stayed 4 nights and were very happy with the room, service and breakfast. It was really good value. The hotel is down a lane which has lots of interesting homes selling market produce. Close to good restaurants and sightseeing attractions.

The CatHuy is a great value for travellers. The rooms are very large with lots of room to hang and store your belongings. A mini fridge, great bathroom, and the beds are large and comfortable. Remember most beds are on the firm side in these areas. The location is also fantastic. Close to a lot of shops, restraunts and the market. The only down side is there are no elevators. So if you are fortunate to have a room on the 7th floor like we did, you will get a work out lugging your suit cases up the flights of stairs. Very safe, clean and a nice little market in the mornings for fresh fruit. Great for longer stays.

Room Tip: Pack lite cause there is no elevators, but a wicked deal for the size of rooms.
