“Good value, rooms are nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2012

We stayed here for three nights when returning back to Sai gon from Mui ne. The hotel was very clean and simple. Breakfast was not so good. The location was OK took taxis to most everything we wanted to see as walking in the 45 degree temps and sunshine was too much for us to do often. We had to ask for a safe in our room but once we asked they brought one up immediately. There was a small fridge. Huge jacuzzi bathtub, no shower but you could use the telephone shower head. The bed was very hard, even for vietnam. The wifi worked very well and was included in the price. Overall it was good value for the price. We stayed at the Grand the first night and that place was amazing but four times the price. if you are doing a lot of sightseeing and just need a clean, simple place to sleep, the Sophie is a good choice.

The Silverland hotel just next store had an amazing spa. A jacuzzi tub, sauna, shower, etc all part of the experience. Very close to western standards, super clean, professional and not your seedy happy-ending kind of place. Ask for Rosie she was an excellent Massage therapist and one of the most professional ones I had in Vietnam. It was so good my boyfriend and I had three massages here over the course of our stay. Spa was excellent value for the money. We ate at a good Japanese resto within walking distance and the Irish pub around the corner (we were needing a break from Vietnamese food for a bit.)

i was suppose to be in another hotel but i was relocated there without too much explanation, it happens often in Viet Nam as they overbook their hotels. This hotel is well situated in the district one where the main action is and easy to walking distance. the staff are polite no more, their english is somewhat limited. The hotel doorman are indifferent and not to much clientele oriented. Unfortunately for an unknown reason they refuse to one of my vietnamese friend to contact me or to let him inside the hotel, i tried to get an explanation, all they did was smiling and said nothing? The room was clean, quite,no shower but a big jaccuzi bath where you have to stand and try to shower with the telephone shower...overall for 1 or 2 days it was fine but if you are looking for longer stay i am sure you can find something way better.

Sophia Hotel is a very good value hotel, located centrally in Saigon. Decor is a mix of the orient and eastern Europe, just as Vietnam itself is, some travellers may find this offputting, but for me it added to the experience. It is very clean and efficient. The wifi works very well and is remarkably fast. Staff are very friendly and happy to accomodate your requests, especially the door staff. Breakfast is excellent for a budget hotel. At the weekends the immidiate area fills with Japanese males, but more European restaurants and nightlife is only a short walk away. Hotel guests are very mixed, although at weekends a greater proportion of Japanese males come into the mix.

Room Tip: My room had an opaque window, so I am not sure what sort of a view I had, but for a budget hotel I...

I'm staying this hotel from 12/11/2011 and will check up tomorrow 15/11/2011. The hotel overall quite ok but altitude of hotel receptionist is really bad, when my husband and I trying to ask something and requested her to call vendor for changing delivery timing, she show frustrated and in patient! The last night I'm stay here with no hot water. I'm not recommendated to stay this hotel

I stayed here for 1 night as I had an overnight connection in HCMC. The week earlier I'd stayed in a much more expensive hotel with crappier service. This place was good. The front desk staff didn't speak perfect english, but certainly enough to communicate. The location is good, close to shopping & post office/cathedral. It's a bit far from the backpacker district though. I would stay here again.

The rooms are well appointed with nice furniture but generally are a bit small. Most of the front desk staff didn't speak very good English so it was often difficult to sort things out with them. Our bookings had requested a queen sized bed in a non smoking room and when we arrived we'd found they'd booked us into a twin room. The put us in another room for the night without a window - like a dungeon - but moved us into a room on the top floor the next day. The biggest problem was the hot water was almost non existent so we constantly had to have cold showers. The staff also turned the a/c off through the day so we often had to ask it to be turned back on when we returned. This was the only hotel we stayed at that did not provide any complimentary water. The room was pleasant enough and clean but the staff were generally unhelpful.
