“Service does it!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

Nothing fancy, small and very basic but what we loved about this hotel were the friendly staff that were very responsive, helpful and honest. And for somebody like me who was mostly out there exploring the city, all I needed was a good bed, clean bathroom and a great smile from the hotel staff when I got back from a long day of touring.

Stayed 4 nights at Saigon Mini 5. we booked a standard double at about £18-50 per nite ($28)Location is brilliant - right in the middle of backpackers area & close to numerous excellent eateries on Bui Vien. There is a mini market right opposite where u can get some drinks for the room. Hotel is within easy walking distance of Ben Thanh market. The staff are extremely friendly & helpful, especially Ms Shuri (i think her name is) - always smiling. We had room 602 accessed via the only lift in the building, room had a city view via a small window - had no traffic noise at all - slept like a baby!!!. The room was clean, the bed big & comfortable & good size bathroom with loads of hot water. There is a fridge & safety deposit box in the room. Also a/c & a fan on the wall. TV also (dont know if it worked as we didnt switch it on). The girl who cleaned the room doubled up as a waitress in the restaurant & was always happy & smiling --- & did excellent job cleaning the room. The restaraunt was situated on top floor with panoramic views over the city. Ok breakfast wasnt fantastic but for the money we didnt expect a lot. The hotel gives you vouchers for breakfast with several options -- like omelette, bacon with scrambled or boiled eggs etc or choice of cereals - you've got to tick the boxes on the voucher & hand it to the waitress-- very light breakfast. While we were there the hotel organised trips to Cu Chi tunnels & Mekong Delta - prices were reasonable thru Delta Adventures. All in all the price is very reasonable for what you get, & I would definitely book there when I return to Saigon.

Room Tip: I would definitley go for a higher room -- 602 was perfect, 601 looked bigger from the quick look i...

On my previous visit to Vietnam at stayed at Saigon Mini Hotel 5. When I was over there I ordered a suit from a local tailor and arranged for delivery to my home address in the UK. When it didn't turn up, I contacted Saigon Mini Hotel 5 who were able to speak to the tailor, and arrange for the suit to be sent to me in the UK. They were incredibly helpful and were very quick to respond to my questions. It seems like they can't do enough to help you and I can't thank them enough.
This was coupled with a fantastic stay in a very nice hotel, clean, great location and the friendliest of staff.

We enjoyed our stay here because of the friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean but a little bit too small to relax there. But you will be on the street all day long because the location is in walking distance to sightseeing places and too many bars and restaurant. It could be a litte bit loud at night, so take a room off the street. The 5 Dollar more are worth the value.Breakfast is served on the top of the hotel with a nice view around.

Room Tip: Higher level and take the deluxe. Standard has no window!

Value for money and in a great location. Staff is friendly and very accommodating.

Our only complaint is that the air conditioning in our room takes a long time to cool. It's a hassle after coming in from a hot day.

We stayed here in jan 2013. The staff were very helpful and friendly. They spoke English quite well. The room was clean and tidy, massive bed, but a little hard. The hotel is in a great location to bars, restaurants, cafes, shopping and the Ben market. The street comes alive at night and you couldn't hear any noise from the rooms. The hotel is right in the action. Breakfast was basic.

Saigon Mini Hotel 5 is a great choice if you want to stay around the Pham Ngu Lao area. By far the cleanest budget hotel I have seen in either Asia or Europe, and certainly cleaner than the filthy hotels of Australia.
The staff are polite and enthusiastic. The price is spot on, more expensive than most of the surrounding hostels, but much better than any of the ones I have stayed in.

We ended up staying two weeks on my second visit in two years, and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Stay at Mini Hotel 5, the rooms in Mini Hotel 6 are not close to the standard.
