“Informative but badly presented”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

There is a lot of information and displays including some impressive costumes however the layout of the images and content is not ideal. Spread over three floors it lacks continuity. However, since it's free it hardly seems their fault as they are doing their best to get the story of women in Vietnam out to the wider public. Would be good to see more on the female political, health or other professionals, not only a focus on soldiers.

“Costumes worth seeing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

This is an understated museum presented on 2 floors. It is well laid out and, I am sure, educational though as it is an Vietnamese museum, most of the info is not in English. Despite this, it is easy to identify the significant role played by Vietnamese women over
the years. It's worth noting that this really IS a womens museum as there's no photos of men thrown in for good measure.
It's free to get in and if you only go to see the costumes, it's worth a visit.

“Bit disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

I found this museum a bit disappointing, especially when compared to the Women's Museum in Hanoi. The museum in HCM City is worth a visit but don't expect an overwhelming exhibition of the role of women throughout Vietnam's history.
On the ground floor are dresses and some handicraft tools exhibited, the other two floors are mainly dedicated to the (certainly) heroic role of Vietnamese women in recent history, notably during the American war. That alone makes the museum worth a visit but the museum overall could do with a thorough renovation of the collection and the building itself.
Entrance is free.

“Not great expectations but it could be better for others”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

This Museum has no fee to enter. It's located in a old 3 floor building and on each floor there is a section dedicated to a period of hystory or to different phases of the women's life in Vietnam. So you'll see from the tipical dressing, including wedding, to the relevant section about the war till the important roles that after that the women had gained in politic, sport, and other fields. You'll find some other sections about the prisoning as well. But is not 100% focused on the war itself.
If you do not have great expectations and you are really curious about women life in Vietnam, you can have a walk/taxi here. A full tour takes approx 45-50 mins. It can touch your heart for the hystory first and for the images and real old objects. P.S: I have'nt seen any elevator.

“Recommend highly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2012

Due to my interest in understanding women's struggle in Vietnam this was the first place I went to while visiting Ho Chi Minh CIty. However, the maintenance of this place requires some attention because there was a power cut and there was no back up for over an hour. The museum itself is a very well portrayed depiction of the participation of women during the war and the various struggles they had to face. There were just 2 more tourist which was a little surprising!
