“Very enjoyable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2010

We had a great day with the friendly and knowledgeable Chow, our cycling guide. We were picked up from our hotel in a minivan with the bikes already inside, and drove out of the city. After about 50km, we got out and began our ride through the quieter rural roads. While there was still traffic, it was not heavy and after about 2km we turned down an even quieter road on our way to Cu Chi.

The gentle pace of the bike ride was a great way to explore a country and get 'up close' to the people and their way of life, much more than just speeding by in an airconditioned tourist bus. Local kids waved and shouted 'hello!' to us as we cycled past. All in all a very pleasant experience, getting a workout and sightseeing at the same time! At the tunnels Chow walked around with us and explained the sights. It was very personalised and I enjoyed being in a friendly group of only 5 people rather than in a crowd spilling out of an airconditioned bus.

It was moderately paced and should be fine for people in reasonable shape, although the heat can be a problem if you're not used to it. Plenty of cold drinking water is provided.

“Really Enjoyable Day Tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2010

We booked a day trip around the Mekong Delta and were collected from our hotel in HCMC and brought to the delta in an air conditioned van. We were offered a trip of 32 km or 70 km and choose the 32 km due to the heat and set off from a town on the outskirts of the Delta. The bikes and guide were great and with plenty of stops for water and rehydration (provided by the support van) we managed the 32 km comfortably if a bit a sweaty. Went off the main roads and got to see how the local people really live their daily lives. Then on to a boat tour of two islands where we got to see coconut candy & rice paper being made, travel in a sampan and end with a lovely lunch. We then relaxed for 1/2 hour in a hammock and our guide "Tiger" was really flexible and informative throughout. We were dropped back to our hotel after a really enjoyable day the highlight of our stay in Vietnam so far. We would 100% recommend this tour to everyone regardless of fitness levels.

“Amazing day, friendly and informative guide, all around great time!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2010

We had a one day tour around the cuchi tunnels during the lunar new year. This was hands down the highlight of our trip to Saigon. The biking was fun, the tunnels were interesting...but our guide was the best part of all. Friendly, well informed and kind - he made the day well worth it.

I would surely recommend this day to anyone who likes to be outdoors, learn about the city and it's history and likes a good chat.

“Great way to experience Vietnam in a day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2010

My wife and I booked a one day customised bike tour with the nice guys at Vietnam Bike Tours - everything was sorted through the phone, and details were explained well. When we did the tour the next day with Wee, our guide, we were brought near the Mekong River by a van and we basically cycled through the villages and onto bigger streets for the whole day. It was nice to breeze past rice fields, local communities and schools - one of the nicer touches we liked was how close we were with the local community. Our tea breaks, lunch and even the boat rides were all done using local resources which didn't seem very commercialised yet, and that benefited the local community directly. This is definitely the highlight for our trip in Ho Chi Minh

“Brilliant Mekong river cycle and boat tour, Vietnam up close.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2010

A great way to see the countryside and people up close. This half day trip began with an early pick up in an air conditioned van with soft drinks and water included. Our guide Hui, who was very informative set up our bikes and ensured we were happy with them before we set off. Along the route he made unplanned but very interesting stops at a roadside cafe and a Dragon fruit farm, where the locals greeted us as friends, even showing us pictures of a recent wedding. We enjoyed a boat ride on the Mekong river and a punt down a tributary, as well as a meal in a riverside restaurant. We also visited a coconut plantation and were priveleged to see and hear a local singing group perform some beautiful music. It really was a fantastic day. All this for $81US. This trip will suit any reasonably fit person as it is all flat. Take suncream a camera and decent shoes for cycling. We booked in advance through [--] and everything
went off very smoothly and we saved a fortune over the tours offered by the cruise ship we were on.
