My boyfriend and booked a day-long bicycle tour of the Mekong Delta and chose the shorter of the two options to My Tho (around 30 km). It was a private tour, just the two of us, our tour guide, and the driver (who obviously stayed with the car). It's a bit hard to tell from the description, but basically this is like the more basic touristy river cruises of the Mekong Delta with the bicycle ride tacked on beforehand. It is a little expensive, but since we wanted to see some of the countryside, decided it was worth it. The bike ride was largely on flat land, but in parts (particularly along the water), the paths were very narrow and there was a minor threat of accidentally falling into the water, if you're not a terribly confident cyclist (like myself). It was very scenic, but it seemed at times our tour guide was more interested in just finishing the cycling part of the day than actually showing us the countryside and did ride quite a bit ahead of us for the majority of the trip, checking on us only periodically. We were initially told we'd stop every couple of miles, but in fact we only really stopped twice the whole time, and the second time was upon our request. We didn't really need many more stops, but would have appreciated taking a little more time just to experience the countryside. Our tour guide told us he had been doing this for awhile, and was an avid cyclist, so maybe this shorter trip was a bit boring for him? He did make a detour so we could see some local Cao Dai temples and took some pictures of us on his phone, later emailed to us, which was greatly appreciated. As stated in other reviews, lunch and the rest of the afternoon is rather touristy, but it is a nice break from being in the city. Bikes are in great condition, and helmets are provided. If we were to do this again in the future, I'd request that we perhaps stop a few more times during the cycling part of the day in order to really appreciate the surroundings, but all in all, this was a worthy experience.
