“Friendly staff, Lovely clean rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012 via mobile

The title says it all. In particular the receptionist and secirity guard together spent 15mins and 2 phone calls to help me set up my new sim card after the assistant in the shop abandoned me (literally locked up and walked away after i habded over my $5!). Room was small but clean, no window but this was clear on the room description in advance.

The price is great. The hotel is in a good location, easy to find restaurants, local bars and gifts. The staff is very nice, very helpful. If you expect something classy, this hotel probably not for you. But if you not expect much for the price, this hotel is the very good choice for you. Would come back again.

It was a delight staying in this hotel. We got quite a lot for the price we paid - and the most valuable thing was its customer service. We needed quite a lot of assistance, particularly with my less-abled dad, and they offered it freely - helping him up the steps, carrying our bags. It is also situated in a busy backpackers street - you will not get bored staying here. Toiletries were amply provided and there is a much-needed safety box in the deluxe room we stayed in, universal adapters are available with just a phone call. Beds were very comfortable and with good quality bedsheets and pillows. Wi-fi is readily available in the rooms and there are two computers available for use in the lobby. The hotel might be quite small, narrow and tight in places, but other than that, it comes highly recommended. And for the less-abled, do take note that there is a flight of stairs you need to climb to get to the entrance.

Good location, in the middle of the backpackersarea. At first not a good room (room 100) but eventually a good room up the 3rd floor. Availability to leave luggage whilst doing a trip to the Mekong Delta. Breakfast about 1 USD, worth it.
Beds kind of hard (like everywhere else)

Room Tip: not room 100.

Hi,
this was our first stay in Asia and what a brilliant welcome. We arrived late at night and the staff was very welcoming and friendly. The rooms are clean. There was nothing to complain about. Breakfast was also top draw, at the 10th floor of the hotel next door Saigon Mini 5 with great views of the city.

Thank you Mini Saigon 6 for a great time.

not only are the rooms lovely and clean, the staff are all so helpful and friendly. The breakfast is a fantstic choice and quality for the money - i really can not fault this hotel, and for the price its an absolute bargain. I think when you go to a new country you want to arrive somewhere you can count on to be clean comfortable and welcoming and thats exactly what you get here.
we will be back!

Booked the VIP Family Deluxe Suite (2 King sized beds, 1 single) and Deluxe Room (1 King, 1 Single) for my group of 4 people over the duration of 4D3N from 1 Nov to 4 Nov! Chose the hotel based entirely on rave reviews on travel websites.

Good stuff : Spacious rooms, together with clean toilets and huge beds, our group slept like a baby each time we head back to our rooms and hardly disturbed by anything nor have any complains over anything. The rooms were a steal as they are cheap and good, well worth every penny spent.

Housekeeping is prompt, service is very commendable. The reception and security staff are very helpful and friendly with a good command of English. They help you with your baggage and directions, getting cabs and getting around, booking tours on your behalf. Wifi connection is all around the hotel and pretty good too!

Location is subjective as its located at the heart of Saigon's nightlife with many retail shops, convenience stalls, streetfood, restaurants, bars and pubs within walking distance. Hence, convenience is super but the streets are flooded with tourists and noise level can be quite high. But back in the hotel it wasn't that bad.

Downsides: Breakfast is lacking, but i do not expect much out of it in the first place. There was a power failure during one of the nights that the air-conditioned shut off. Probably a one-off incident.

Limited power points and no universal adapters by the hotel nor sold in the convenience store (Circle K) was provided is the only issue that i would like to highlight. We took out the table lamp connected to the power point out to charge our electronics and used the point in the toilet that's for hair dryers.More should be installed. Shower hose is at mid-speed, and although we had a bathtub for VIP, it wasn't working so it didn't matter.

Bad Stuff:
***Tours: Although we had such a pleasant stay and very satisfied with the overall performance of the rooms and service, regretfully something cropped up during our checkout that made us stay back 1.5hr trying to rectify the problem. The tour agency that Saigon Mini Hotel is working with, needs to be looked into immediately. (No hard feelings to Saigon Mini Hotel as they are just the middlemen and we will still return)

Communication across their hotel staff working in different shifts can be improved as two incidents caused the setback on our checkout:

1) on Saturday night, we requested for a late checkout on Sunday and the reception agreed to till 1.30pm. Yet on Sunday itself, as we were heading out for some last minute shopping, we were told by another staff that they are fully booked and would need us to checkout on time at 12pm. So we had to go back to our rooms and pack everything so as to checkout on time despite the initial agreement but we did not make a fuss as we liked the hotel so much and not be bothered about it.

2) The Mekong Delta - Ben Tre Tour (Tour cost: 210,000dong from 7am to 7pm, with Option of returning by boat by 5.30pm at Extra cost off 336,000dong) was booked by my group on Friday. We booked the tour based on the tour information that we will be picked up from our hotel, take a boat and spend the day at Mekong, and additionally took the option of having a boat take us back by 5.30pm, costing us 546, 000dong.

But what actually happened that day was we took a boat over to Mekong Delta indeed, yet returned Saigon by bus at a terminal and back to the hotel at 7pm, which seemed to not fulfill the terms of what we booked for in our additional Option. So i called reception on that Friday night to ask of the charges debited to our hotel charges and the staff replied that it was 210,000dong for that day's tour.

Yet on checkout day, the bill came out and my group of 4 had to pay 546,000 and despite our stance that we did not even receive the additional option's service provided plus the hotel staff confirming our tour charge of 210,000dong on Friday night itself, the reception on Sunday were not able to check us out until the payment is made. There were a lot of phone calls made and the worst was when the reception highlighted the matter to the tour agency (who insisted we took a boat to Mekong Delta is already fulfilling the option, which made the details on the website and print very misleading), the tour agency was very aggressive.

My friend took over the phone and talked to the staff of the agency in a calm manner to which the lady on the other end crudely replied "I don't want to talk to you! You don't pay, trouble on you!". So we wanted the manager of Saigon to handle the matter personally because of the horrible treatment we were getting by the tour agency and the hotel's inability to resolve the matter for something we did not do nor enjoy the services of and the reception called the management yet no one was entertaining her calls.

It took us 1.5hrs to finally resolve the matter in an unpleasant manner when the agency wanted us to pay 50% of the extra option (336,000dong at full price) and we would only settle for 70% off, and that concludes the case. Of course we were unhappy as clearly the terms and conditions of the tour is not clear at all, we were threatened by Vietnamese in their home country by a tour agency and the hotel staff were inconsistent in their statements and handling by different hotel staff, we paid the 30% still as its not worth getting our lives put at risk over.

But in the end we told the reception that we will still come back for Saigon Mini Hotel 6, and would still recommend people as its been a pleasant stay, but they must look into their internal communication and with their selected tour agency, as its something i would like to caution everyone about. They should address many issues with their tour agency, or risk getting pulled down in their reputation for carrying the services of that agency.

Room Tip: Take note and be clear when booking the Tour Packages!!
