“Great ambiance and delicious food in HCMC”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

I just was craving for a good salad, after many Vietnamese meals and everybody around the hotel suggested Skewers. Oh boy, they really deliver. I had a chicken salad and the greens were crispy and fresh, the chicken was crispy outside and moist in the inside. The beer was a bit in the warm side, but it did not damper my enthusiasm for how great the salad was. Portion are also very generous. To top the salad, maybe the best vinaigrette salad dressing in HCMC. I highly recommend this place.

Dear lreyes,

Thank you so much for your patrionage and time to review us on TA. Majority of our guests are local expats and Vietnamese so we are not a popular restaurant on TA but always glad when someone decided to do so. I'm pleased to hear that you've enjoyed your meal and experience with us. Hope to see you again in the near future and Happy Year of the Horse.

Cheers,
Tristan

“Great value on outstanding meats”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2013

On an extended stay in HCM we ended up eating here 5 times, all the meat is from Australia or New Zeland so tender and handled with perfection by the kitchen staff which you can actually watch preparing your dinner. My favorite was the lamb shank, meat just falling off the bone amazing

“Overpriced Tourist Trap”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

Very basic Mediterranean food, very basic service clearly aimed at getting the one time visitors to District 1 in HCMC. One of our party was allergic to eggs and could be offered very little on the menu - apparently even the pasta was made with eggs or "so the chef thought" The pasta seafood was basically a plate of spaghetti with a few pieces of seafood. The smoked salmon was the smallest serve of salmon I have seen with four very thin slices of salmon with a bit of garnish offered. The only redeeming point was an extensive wine list albeit this was also overpriced. With an abundance of restuarants HCMC has much better places to offer the diner. I would not return and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Dear KatielouAustralia,

Thank you for your patronage and time to review us on TA. Apology for not being able to accommodate one of your party who was allergic to eggs. We had try to offered an arrays of other dishes that did not contain eggs but your party insisted on having pasta and decided on having the smoked salmon instead. Unfortunately we are not an Italian restaurant and does not offer an assorted range of pastas to select. Probably the only Italian restaurant I know of in town that pull their own pasta is Opera Italian Restaurant in the Park Hyatt. Regarding the smoked salmon, perhaps you may have been mistaken an appetizer for an entree?

I can assure to everyone that we are not an overpriced restaurant despite importing most of our products and ingredients. Menu and prices are fully listed on board outside and on our menu so nothing is hidden. We have been open close to 14 years and catered more to local expats and very few tourists. We have an awarding wine list with over 200 wine labels from all over the world not including 100 labels of various spirits.

“Pleasant atmosphere, good food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

We ended up eating here twice, because my fussy nine year old son liked it so much. First time he ordered the spaghetti bolognese and my husband ordered beef gyros. My son sampled the beef and thought it was fantastic, "amazing" was his exact word. Second time we came my son went straight for the beef gyros.
I liked that they had vegetarian options, including a delicious red pepper hummus and a smoky, yummy baba ganoush dip, pasta dishes and a falafel sandwich I'd recommend.
Friendly staff, quick service, very nice restaurant!

“Rock Solid”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

Tried this place several times, and (by-and-large) I have walked away pretty happy.

Food is rock solid - clam chowder is authentic, ossobuco tender and delicious, and the chicken salad with camembert and grapes is always good.

Pizza is hit-and-miss a little bit - the base often resembles a hard biscuit.

Wine list is great, and helps to wash away any small mistakes.

A good selection of comfort fare, not really focused on the 'skewer' theme however.
