The local security guard tried to charge us to guide us 50 yards, but the owner greeted us with a welcome drink and advice, and helped us arrange transport at every turn. The rooms were comfortable, air conditioned and clean.

AVOID GIANG SON 2 UNTIL THEY FINISH THEIR CONSTRUCTION INSIDE

Seems like it would be a nice guesthouse and everything inside is nice for budget travelers.

The issue: they are constructing new rooms in the hotel while still operating the hotel.

I booked for three nights and in the first morning, was awoke by a full construction crew including hammers and saws and other equipment. This was LOUD because it was occurring during above my room. 7:30am wakeup to extreme noise is not acceptable!

This constructions begins at 7:30am and continues throughout the day. I had just flow in and needed some quality sleep, but just wasn't possible.

They moved me to another room and assured it would be quieter, but it was on the same floor. I woke again at 7:30am to the sounds of hammers directly above my head. I packed my stuff yet again and moved to another hotel.

They did try to fix this issue by moving me to another room, but really, it's not acceptable at any budget price to construct rooms in the early morning directly above their guests heads. I can accept external noisiness from backpacker districts... but not directly inside the rooms.

There are dozens of options in the same price range everything. Probably 10 guesthouses within one minute walk, so I suggest finding one of them and staying away until they finish their hotel.

Room Tip: Avoid floors 3 and above!

Top rated by LP? really? I found this place to be indifferent, down an alley jammed with scammers, touts, drunks, burned out expats. There is no security here so carry your valuables with you when out. Also, expect to be hassled on then road and all prices are 2X anywhere else in VN (water, snacks, etc.). Room was okay, a/c sort of worked, fan and lights did not, staff were disinterested and dismissive, more interested in TV. Would definitely not stay here again or recommemd it. PS - use Mailinh taxi to airport for about 200,000 vnd, about $4 bucks. Good news is that after HCMC Vietnam just gets better the farther away you get from this swamp.

We spent our last night at this hotel, and the service was excellent. Free breakfast, clean, spacious rooms with en suite bathroom (also very clean and good), air conditioner, and yummy coffee! Our hosts were so friendly and informative, and the atmosphere was relaxed, really great. If you don't mind stairs, ask for a room right on the fifth floor. The view of the city is phenomenal and you can sit on the roof and share a beer with someone.
The best way to spend our last night in Saigon.
Cheers!

Room Tip: Top floor rooms have a stunning view!

Very very friendly, family-run establishment. The receptionist was super-helpful and welcoming. Great location down a side-alley, right in the centre of Siagon, just next to the central park. Highly recommended.

Newer hotel in the middle of the backpacker area. Lots of hawkers pushing you to buy their trinkets all around the area.

Staff was friendly and nice.

Breakfast left something to be desired. Small ants were crawling all over the sugar bowl and bread. Pretty unapetizing. However, the eggs made to order were good.

We booked late so we got a room in the back that didn't have any windows, which made it somewhat depressing yet quiet at night.

Still a good value, but I think I would stay in another area next time.

The hotel is centrally located in the backpackers area in District 1. It is around 10-15 minute walk to Ben Than Market, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Central Post Office.

The room which we booked thru Agoda was immaculate. The meals which was included in our booking was basic which consisted of eggs, baguettes, bananas, coffee and juice.

The hotel also offers travel tour packages in HCM. We booked the Cu Chi Tunnel (a must VISIT!)

Kudos to Ms. Minh of Giang Son 2 who warmly welcomed us in the wee hours of the morning! And to the whole team of Giang son 2 who have always been acommodating & attentive to our needs while we were in HCM.

Giang son 2- a home away from home!
