“First Class hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2010

I stayed at the Hanoi Capital collectively about 5 days using it as a return base to launch various trips from. The hotel is located in a great location in the heart of Old Town. What makes it location unique is its in the middle of a smaller street that cars cant get down, meaning its a nice little sanctuary away from the busy streets. The rooms are very nice and clean, with everything you could want. What sets Hanoi Capital apart from the rest though is the staff. Everyone is extremely friendly and great fun, going the extra mile to fulfill any need you might have, no matter how unreasonable your request. This seems to be the philosophy of everyone working there. The service is first class, and they offer many tours from which to see vietnam. This is one of the main reason that kept us coming back - if ever we needed something while we were away we could just call them up and they would sort it out for us. Very reassuring when you dont know what you're doing or who to call! It was always nice to return home to the hotel after you'd be away doing other things for a few days. Highly recommend.

this hotel like all those listed in the old quarters is ,small, narrow and self runned like a family hotel.Though undergoing minor renovations, paint, wood, plaster is left all around. The bathrooms need renovation too.The sink, bathtubs, shower curtain, the towels are still old and you feel like getting out of the bathrooms as quick as you can. They need to also dry clean the bedspreads and cushions. The bed sheets however are clean.Breakfast good and staff extremely courteous.First time I have stayed in a hotel where 50% is bad rating and the other half rating is good.

Dear our valued guests,
Be on half of management of Hanoi Capital hotel, I would like to send our sincere thanks for your stay and your review.
We are very sorry for the inconvenient stay. In order to improve our service, we had minor renovations that made you feel uncomfortable. We had finished it and cleaned up after few days. We really do hope that we will have a chance to be serving you next time so you can see our difference.
Best regards,
Hotel manager

We stayed here for three nights with friends. Good hotel, clean and spacious rooms. All the staff are very friendly and helpful although the manager is a bit pushy with trying to sell tours through their associated tour company. Located in the Old Quarter of Hanoi it is perfectly placed to all sights, restaurants and bars.

We stayed here for two nights during the end of our Vietnam holiday; The hotel is well located and Tony, the manager was excellent. We could not fault the service of the staff and Lily is also very helpful. Tony speaks excellent English and this is a real plus in Hanoi as you are able to organise tours, etc easily. We were able to leave our luggage at the hotel while we went away for a few days. Tony even organised a taxi for us to return to the hotel and was nothing but charming and friendly.
The hotel decor is getting a little tired but will be smarter with a good paint and carpet up the stairs. Otherwise everything we needed was there

This is our first time to Hanoi with 7 of us travelling together. We had such wonderful staying in this hotel. Although we were kind of worry after reading the warning notice posted on tripadvisor on this hotel regards to manipulation of reviews, we decided to go ahead. And I'm glad we did. The staffs were very helpful and friendly. They delivered what they had promised and even more. The rooms are clean and in good conditions. There's lift in this hotel, which is a plus point! For a 3 stars hotel, this is really value for money. The hotel helped us to plan for our trip to Halong Bay and Sapa Trek at very reasonable pricing. They provide luggage storage for us whenever we were away for trip. They tried their best to give us an early check in and late check out of hotel during our Sapa trip. All these were complimentary. It was such relaxing and hassel free travelling without worrying about luggage storage and transportation. The best part was that the hotel is always available on Yahoo chat, which make it so much easier to plan with them before we come to Hanoi.
Thank you Tony, Lyli and Linda for making our trip a memorable and exciting one!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2010

A colleague and I stayed in Hanoi Capital Hotel for almost a week in August, 2010. At first, the hotel is not easy to find due to the several streets in Old Quarter that have similar names - but once you've find it, it is very pleasant. The premise is located in this little street away from all the buzz but still in a central place. From there, we could walk throughout the whole Old Quarter on foot; used mainly by local people, it was always a pleasure to step outside the hotel and be greeted by the kids and their parents.

The hotel has 6 floors and the lift goes up to the 5th. As business travellers, we stayed in a standard twin room on the 5th floor for 4 days. The room and beds were ok and water pressure in the shower was fine also - we've been living in Asia for the past year and this was one of the best we got so far. It was amazing to find out the hotel offer free wi-fi in all floors!! And if you don't have your own computer, they provide 3 desktops close to the reception for free use as well. When our business meetings were over, we extended our stay and went to Halong Bay; all the tour was organised by the hotel's staff. I am very glad that they had enough patience to explain to us all the differences between this or that tour. They didn't push us to choose anything and after studying other proposals from different tour companies, we decided to take the hotel's choice. We went for a 3D/2N tour to Halong Bay and Cat Ba Island with Dolphin Deluxe Tours - and we got a better price because we were staying in the hotel when coming back from the cruise (they organise other tours as well, like Sapa, day trips in and around Hanoi, train tickets, etc). They kept our bulky luggage for free while we were away.

The staff is really a highlight of this hotel. The receptionists and the manager all speak good English; they are always helpful to give you advice on where to eat and where to go. They provided us maps and advice on taxi drivers as well. The lady that takes care of the breakfast and the boys that carry the luggage for you are all very lovely and will do everything to understand your needs. The hotel has room service but we didn't use it. Breakfast was ok, standard for what you get in a budget hotel - but everyday we had fresh fruits! :) They really care for customer service: in one day, the maids couldn't clean our room before we came back from the morning meeting. They called us in the room and gave their excuses, asking for a time they could come and perform the cleaning.

For the night we had to stay there after coming back from Halong Bay, they offered us a deluxe twin room for the same price we paid in the standard room. Taxi transfer was also arranged by USD 15. We were really glad with the offer. But, when we came back, for some reason, our names were not in the guest list anymore and no deluxe rooms were available. So, they upgraded us for free to the VIP room!!!! Check the pictures, it is really worth it! It's the bigger room, with a little sofa, bathtub and 42" flat screen tv - with cable and connected to a computer! It's the first time in the world we've seen such a thing! The room is in the 6th floor with big windows - and you have a view of the Old Quarter. It was a well-slept night after coming back from the Bay. The manager was very sympathetic towards our needs; I'll never forget when he said he wanted us to be happy!

We have some business meetings going on in Hanoi and definitely will stay at Hanoi Capital Hotel again. For business or leisure, we recommend their service. Thank you Tony, Lili, Linda and all the staff!
