“Perfect Location Awesome Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2014

it is located in Hang Be street. From what i understand there are 2 Rising Dragon Hotel in hanoi. it is located very close to the Old Quarters. It is very convient as there are alot of eateries around.

The rooms are clean and everyday it is cleaned. As usual there are no lifts so the only problem is you need to walk up. It is 4 storey Building. It is common in Hanoi. the bathroom is the modern style. A round cubicle with a shower. The water pressure was good. Toilettries are replentish everyday.

For a backpacker this is the most ideal hotel to stay. There a lot a travel agents around for you to book tours to sapa and halong bay.

Service is the best that i have ever experienced ever before. they are so helpfull and curtious. breakfast is simple but nasty. You can have a nice beef/chicken borth or bread and butter. the beef broth was simply superb.

If i should came back to hanoi i will definetly stay at this hotel.

Room Tip: If you have trouble walking up 4 floors get a room on the lower floors. they dont have a lift.

This hotel is very central and all the staff are really nice and helpful. In our last day we had to catch a very early flight so we couldn't get breakfast, but when we arrived at the reception they had already prepared a package with breakfast for us to take, just like home! :)

Room Tip: Rooms facing the main Street are better

Great welcome and staff so helpful. Really go beyond their duties. Very clean and very comfortable rooms. We used this hotel as a base in-between trips to Sapa and Halong Bay. Is a good location and provides a good buffet breakfast to start your day. Can book any trip and train tickets easily from here.

The Rising Dragon hotel is a very decent basic hotel in the backpackers area of Hanoi. The staff is very friendly and the manager Tracy is a great source of information and assistance. If you send her your flight information (check the website after you reserve, or you'll get an email), they'll even send a driver to pick you up. This is great so you can avoid scams, and its the most convenient since the airport is quite far from the city (approx. 45-60 mins). Much props to the driver for picking us up even with a flight delay... Tracy gave us a quick map orientation of the city and restaurant recommendations, which were quite helpful.

Be warned that there is no elevator (we were on the 5th floor... a mild demotivator). The rooms are functional, not too small, and in decent shape, nothing too fancy. I did notice some small ants here and there towards the "exit" (locked balcony door) at the other side of the bathroom, but there were no problems with it. There were a few English language channels on the telly and the crucial AC worked fine. The double bed was ok and no real problems with noise (probably cuz there's 1 room/floor). The free Wifi worked well the 1st day, then we couldn't get it to work at all. Luckily there is other Wifi on the ground floor (and a couple of desktop PCs) that made up for it. Breakfast is free and of surprisingly good quality and variety. Free coffee is available throughout the day.

We booked the 2 day Ha Long Bay tour through Tracy and it was quite enjoyable (be warned its about a 2.5-3 hour drive out each way, which makes the 1 day tour real questionable). She even accommodated our request to move up our tour a day earlier. There are other tours available but didn't try any of them.

The location is not too bad. The way Hanoi is designed and the fact that its relatively less developed can sometimes make it hard to get around effectively, so you could certainly do worse than this area. Its smack dab in backpacker land so prepare for that type of crowd, and initially its a bit confusing trying to find anything in the area. (Also be aware that there are several other presumably related Rising Dragon hotels in the vicinity, in case you try to cab it back from somewhere). You can walk to Hoan Kiem lake, some local markets, and a few other sites in 5-10 mins. Some, like the Military history museum and Imperial Citadel, are quite a walk but doable (maybe 20-25 mins).

In the end this is a very good choice for those who don't need anything too fancy.

A small family run establishment where nothing is too much trouble. Great location close to Hoan kiem Lake, right next to cathedral, in the old quarter so lots to do within walking distance. Great value.

Room Tip: no lift and steepish stairs so ask for first floor if this is a poroblem

My husband and I were very impressed by the friendly staff and the great service we received.
Because I had a cold they offered to bring me some ginger tea to my room.
They also prepared a breakfast box for us when we had to take an early flight.
The rooms were clean and it was great to have a bathtub.
Great location for Hanoi shopping and sight seeing.

Room Tip: top floor facing east

We stayed at the hotel for 3 amazing nights. The hotel is perfectly located, close to the lake, the market in the middle of the old city. Each and every staff member is a perfect host!!all of them are not only kind and nice, but really helpful.
Breakfast is great! David helped us in the most professional way to plan and reserve ahead everything from tickets to the water puppet show, through tickets to Ha Long bay, taxi and train tickets, Everything in a very professional way!
The hotel was our base throughout the whole journey, we left our suitcases, came back, reorganized them and so on for 3 times, every time we passed via Hanoi to another destination.
All of the rooms are very good, but the suite is highly recommended.
