“Wonderfully homey”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

I cannot imagine staying anywhere else in Hanoi. Members of the staff are incredibly warm and accomodating. Despite a typhoon that threatened our holiday, the staff - especially Tracy, our wonderful hotel manager - made arrangements for us so that we still got to do everything in our itinerary minutes (which she helped us ignoramuses plan) before we even left for Hanoi. What foresight! She thought of every single detail we didn't even think of. The hotel itself is simple but clean and very pleasant. The staff made sure we were taken care of every minute of our stay, from exchanging currencies to giving us directions and suggestions to everywhere, to giving us useful advice in dealing with the locals. They'd offer their own money if the hotel didn't have enough to exchange currencies, and Tracy even treated us to a roundtrip cable car ride. I love them all! - with Hana, Cindy, and Steven all from the front desk, and Hui and the other bellhops. They made us feel like family and my only regret is that we didn't get to say a proper farewell to them as we had to rush to catch our plane home. I'd definitely go back.

This hotel was made amazing simply by it's wonderful staff. They cannot do enough to help you even to the point where they offered to lend us money cos they heard us say we needed to go to an atm. They organised trips for us and were very honest about the photoshopping of certain pictures etc. They even offered to let us pay on our return from the cruise round Halong Bay.

The rooms were really decent for the price with great showers, very comfortable beds and satellite TV. The rooms were very quiet (no street noise) and dark at night (not much light coming through the curtains). Location was fantastic, right in the midst of the Old Quarter Tourist District. They offered quite a variety for breakfast and there was plenty to eat and drink.

If I was going to Hanoi again, there would be no doubt as to where I would stay. Thanks for an awesome trip guys!

Unbelievably good hotel, especially for the price. Our room was spotless and very comfortable, the staff were excellent and its in a great location for the sights in and around the old quarter. The free breakfast was really good, you get a choice from the menu and there is also a buffet with toast, pastries, fruit, juice, tea and coffee. I noticed a lot of reviews for Hanoi hotels mentioned staff always pester them to take tours etc. This doesnt happen in Rising Dragon. Highly recommended hotel.

This place is excellent especially for the price. It is located in the Old Quarter which really is the place to stay in Hanoi - everything is a short walk from the hotel. The air con works well, there if free wifi and the complimentary breakfast is great. Credit to Tracy from the hotel who looked after myslef and a large school group on our stay there.

I only stayed for one night in this hotel. The first thing I noticed was the incredibly friendly staff. The guy at the reception welcomed me and politely asked me to take a seat while he was dealing with another guest. Then someone even carried my backpack up (I tried to object, but they wouldn't allow it ;)).

The room I got did not have a window, which was for the better as I learned, because the rooms having a window face the street and can be quite noisy. This hints at the location, which is superb, right in the very heart of the old quarter and close to the lake. The room was nice and very clean, albeit quite small (as is usual with budget acommodation in Vietnam). The TV did not really work, it didn't have a clear picture. But who cares about TV anyways ;).

The staff finally made my day when I had to leave very early in the morning to get to my bus to China. They packed me a breakfast box including a bottle of water for the long trip. That was so nice of them and really made my day!

The price was a bit high, you can find cheaper acommodation in Hanoi, but the nice room and the staff make up for it! You do not encounter this kind of service often when being in Vietnam. Would stay here again.

Friends recommended Rising Dragon Hotel, 55 Hang Be St Hanoi. David, Leo, Cindy and the rest of the staff were so helpful in organising our trips to Halong Bay, Hue, Hoi An and Sapa and collecting us from trains stations and airports. The hotel is air-conditioned, very comfortable beds, TV, Wi-Fi, mini bar and breakfast (very substantial) is included in the price. Each time we did a trip returning to the hotel was returning home. There are two hotels with the same name and managed by the same people in the street and we paid US$27 between us per night. The hotel is in the old quarter and close to the museums, water puppet theatre and other places of interest.

This time we visited the new Rising Dragon. I don't remember the housenumber, but it is just a few houses further up the street. Everything is very new down here, the rooms modern and comfortable. The house is rather narrow, so the rooms are also long and narrow in true Hanoi old city style. Despite the newness, the old friendly service is still the same. Very friendly and helpfull staff. I'm enthousiastic.
