“Just right for short stay, big clean rooms, great location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012 via mobile

We stayed three sets of dates in December whilst travelling - on arrival in Vietnam, on return from Halong Bay and on return from trip to Hoi An and Hue. Staff friendly and helpful though we booked our tours and train tickets with Buffalo Tours who were great, not the cheapest but very professional and reliable. We left our main luggage safely with the hotel whilst on trip to halong bay and when we got back from hue by train, arriving at 4:30am staff were there to let us in and get a good rest. We stayed in 502 and 602. Large triple room with two windows, tiny balcony overlooking the street. Clean linen. A/c (we needed heater in December) worked fine and quiet. Small bathroom a bit tired, but clean and lots of hot water. Basic coffee tea making facility. Bit noisy in evenings but that added to the experience. Breakfast choice limited, breakfast area small but filled with cheerful art work. We mixed and matched simpler places like Heart Hotel with more luxury/space/pool etc elsewhere in Vietnam. At $38 for a triple room it's a great area to be based and only a 3 min $2.5 taxi ride to train station or $15 to/from airport booked through the hotel.

Stayed at Heart Hotel for 11 nights. 5th floor with room overlooking Hoan Kiem Lake. Room was clean and well laid out, serviced daily. Breakfast was available every morning and the staff were excellent with great service. Proximity to lake and surrounding shops in the old quarter was perfect for the experience I wanted!!!
Thank you to the team at heart hotel for the amazing holiday. Also Heart Hotel booked my trip to Halong Bay and that is a must, what an amazing experience!!! Don't go that far and not go to Halong Bay....the hotel gave a better deal for Halong Bay, very good price!!!
Overall just a great holiday and excellent accomadation!!!

Room Tip: Fifth floor has a great view and small balcony!!!

It's a really a good time at a very friendly and warm hotel. The service is excellent with a very reasonable price. It's also very convenient location to walking around to explore Hanoi. Although there is not many options for breakfast but if you need another requirement, they will try to satisfy you. I love this hotel and I wish to come back soon...

The area is intense with tiny shops, odd smells and nice people. This is a compromise location for those who can afford more. For $42/day room 602 is a bargain for two. It is tight, but is bright, airy, the a/c works perfectly as does everything in the room. They serve pho with chicken or beef, or eggs with ham and a real roll along with coffee or tea included in the room price.

No, this is not a substitute for a major hotel in the French Quarter. But for those of us who stay at two and three star hotels in Paris, you'd be hard pressed to name a difference between this and the Paris hotels. When you go outside, it's another world. Not dangerous, but intense. Yes, it's worth a short stay.

Next time, it's the French Quarter for me.

Room Tip: I was impressed with value for a first trip and the location put me withing 10 minutes by foot of ev...

The Heart Hotel is well located, near Hoan Kiem Lake. They advertise rooms with a lake view (premium price) but the view is a very small glimpse of the lake and not very nice. There is lots of old furniture and bedding stored in the hallways and stairwells. Breakfast is included, but is not very inspiring.
On the positive side, the beds are comfortable, the bathrooms were clean and had plenty of hot water. There was an in-room safe. The free wi-fi was weak and spotty in the rooms but pretty good in the lobby.
The laundry was done very nicely, but the cost was very high compared to other Vietnamese
hotels. Check the prices before having the laundry done to avoid being shocked. We paid $24
USD for two loads of laundry! That was about 50% of what we paid for our triple room.
I would also avoid booking tours through the hotel. We were promised a lot on a two day trip to Halong Bay, but were very disappointed. There are many travel agencies that could book you a better trip at better prices.
The staff try their best and are very helpful. They stored our luggage when we toured Halong Bay and then 4 nights in Sapa. They also allowed early check-in, if the room is available, which is important as the train arrives in Hanoi from Lao Cai (Sapa) between 4
and 5 AM. The hotel is locked up at that time, but there is a bell to ring.
At $45 USD for a triple room we were not very disappointed, and when my wife was trapped in the elevator we had ammunition for stories to tell for a long time.

Room Tip: Higher floors are quieter. Quite a bit of street noise.

Tucked away in the Old Quarter, this hotel is a fantastic little find, close to Hoan Kiem lake. The lobby has lots of lovely paintings that are available to buy (the clue is in the name: HeART Hotel) as well as friendly staff who are happy to help and PCs which have internet access.

My friend had booked this hotel online for our two nights in Hanoi and had requested a twin room with a view of the lake. There were no rooms fitting this description but the staff had kindly removed the double bed from a room with a view, and replaced it with 2 singles. The room was adequate, with an en suite bathroom, and a small balcony with lake views. It was clean and comfortable, as was the rest of the hotel.

Part of the lobby becomes a dining area at breakfast time, where a limited but adequate menu is provided.

Heart Hotel is ideally located. The Old Quarter is a hive of activity and a vibrant fusion of new meets old, with an interseting balance of modernity and antiquity. Hoan Kiem Lake comes alive at night with pretty lights, lakeside dance classes, areas were dog-owners/walkers congregate and impromptu family sing-alongs. By day, the old quarter is fascinating as locals go about their business. Dive down some of the smaller side streets to discover morning food markets.

I would definitely recommend the Heart Hotel after a very happy, comfortable stay there.

Although we had some problems (a toilet that didn't work and then overflowed at no fault of our own), the H-H is an ok property and conveniently located. The staff is very polite and were happy to guide our selection of a reputable Ha Long Bay cruise operator. Despite what the Hotel's website purports, however, the rooms are not sound proofed. Maybe one of the two large windows is new and has more sound proofing, but large windows in two of the rooms we used were old and clearly not soundproofed. Hanoi's scooter horns and quirky city-wide PA system greeted us each morning. The bathroom window in our second room did not close completely. Oddly, old mattresses rested in between each floor's stairwell.

Room Tip: Ask if each window in your room is new and / or soundproofed.
