“This hotel is a scam, watch out! Terrible experience!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2014 via mobile

We booked last night through booking.com a double room family suit for 4 person. To our surprise, when arriving from airport, we were sent to another hotel of the same chain and placed in a one bedroom with two beds on the floor.... Reason: the first hotel had a power shut down... This proved to be a lie: We took the time to go to the initially booked one and the hotel had electricity with every bedrooms lights on visible from the outside..when confronted to his lye, hotel manager became aggressive..and told us pretty much to p... Off...what a terrible experience!,,..As it was too late to check in in any other hotel we got stuck into this. At the same time the airport transfer we had booked via the hotel asked us 30% more than initially agreed by email at our arrival. Reason: too many luggages!! We got a normal cab to go back to the airport this morning, all luggages fitted in this small car...
Last but not least: this hotel is basically a one star, not 3 star:
1/ we could hear all the neighbors during the night and the very noisy street.
2/ in the morning, our shower proved to be burning hot or very cold, but no way to tune it in between....
3/ Sheet where so humid and cold,
4/ hotel is now hold everywhere you look at it.
...,But all these are details, the main thing is the lack of professionalism, lies, and terrible and somewhat traumatic experience this has been for all my family.... Never again.

Rooms pretty small but we had an adjoining room for the kids so plenty if space. Clean rooms and very friendly staff. Breakfast included was basic but good. We had a room with a little balcony over looking the street. A lovely spot to watch the crazy Hanoi bike world go by. Great banh mi (pork and salad baguette) shop next door.. $2 each which is a handy lunch of you are heading back for a rest. Very central spot, short walk to the old quarter and the lake is at the end if the street.

Have stayed at this hotel twice in Jan of 2012 and Sept of 2013. Nothing much has changed. Rooms are clean and well appointed and staff are very helpful even if some have limited English. Would definitely stay again and intend to. Located a 5 minute (or less) walk from the Water Puppet theatre and Hoan Kiem Lake. Other interesting parts of the Old City are also only a short walk away (or if you prefer, a short cyclo ride away). Breakfast included in the price and while not extensive is quite good.

This hotel is a great mid-price choice on the edge of the old quarter. Really close to Hoan Kiem lake. There are a number of different types of rooms to choose from. We originally chose two interconnecting rooms as we had five people. Both rooms were quite compact. The advantage was one room had a balcony looking down onto the action of bustling Hanoi with only a little traffic noise. The disadvantage was that even though we had booked for five people there was no room for an extra bed so the kids set up one bed on the floor - weird I know but stuff happens in Hanoi like that. We moved to two deluxe rooms after this. These rooms are huge but located at the back of the hotel so no views or balconies. Breakfast (included) was a small assortment of Anglo and Vietnamese choices with Pho Ga and eggs made to order. Staff are very obliging and always smiling. They have a tour desk but I would recommend you book anything through one of the many tour booking offices dotted all over Hanoi as I think they offer more information and choices.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel have balconies but are slighter smaller.

Can' beat it brilliant location . Hotel is just near by Hoan Kiem lake and a few steps to discover Old Quarter and around . Hotel look luxury and very clean . Though room do not have large window with city view , but we are okay with window open to air - this is the same with similar hotels in Old Quarter . Staffs are more than polite and helpful . Breakfast is good with plenty of choice . No need to book tour in advance . Hotel can arrange any tours that is much cheaper compare to Travel Agent . We will come back for sure

This hotel is just a few steps away from the Hoan Liem Lake, in the heart of Hanoi, so that all the most important sights are in a walking distance. We stayed there twice in August, before and after our visit to Ha Long Bay: the first room was literally superb: very large, clean, with a large and comfy bathroom, all that you need after a day spent in the humid hot weather of the capital city of Vietnam; the second room was a little bit smaller than the first one, but still good value for money and cosy.
The lobby is small but clean and elegant, the staff is nice and ready to help: they speak very good English.
Breakfast was varied with both local and international cuisine

If you can stay at its sister hotel instead do so. It's a much nicer place and is updated and clean. We e-mailed the staff a week before arriving asking them to purchase tickets to the water puppet show for us in advance. When we arrived they had waited until that day to try and get the tickets and of course they were sold out. A blessing in disguise.... They then put us in a room where the windows looked into the lobby. So we had to keep the drapes closed and got to listen to all the coming and goings of the other guests. Our room was very tired and outdated. There was even a hole in our bathroom wall with a shower curtain covering it.

Room Tip: Don't let them put you in the room overlooking the lobby!
