“Excellent for a 3 star boutique hotel. Great location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2011

My family booked 3 nights but extended to 5 nights. Hotel was very flexible with our booking as we had to book a 2 night Halong Bay cruise during our stay and they accommodated for us by changing our originally booked dates for no extra charge. Location is fantastic - short walk to Hoen Kiem Lake Right in the heart of the old quarter. Hotel has a boutique feel, friendly accommodating staff but rooms are small. Okay for 1-2 but we were cramped with 3 people. Most importantly the rooms and hotel is clean. Bar/room service and minibar is all cheap and not over-priced like many hotels. The room amenities are fantastic and Wi-fi was good however needed to sit outside our room to Skype at times to pick up a stronger signal. Facebook is accessible at this hotel, had difficulty at many other hotels as I understand FB is blocked within Vietnam.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at back of hotel if you want to avoid street noise. Not much of a view but you will...

I stayed here for two nights on a business trip (very budget of course). The hotel staff were pleasant. The room was 201 - front of building and a little noisy. But at least it had a window. Some of the very cheap rooms were like cells!
I would shop around if you have 5 minutes, the price range does give you other (better) options. If you can't find an alternative, then this will fit the reason for a hotel- somewhere to wash and sleep.

Room Tip: Go for a room at the back

I have stayed at this hotel on more than two occasions (Travel as well as Leisure) and found the hotel's location to be ideal. Located with in 5 mins walk to the historic lake and the shopping streets of Hanoi Hoan Kiem dist, the hotel offers a good staying experience. I found the staff to be extremely helpful and courteous. They had all my travel arranged and help me with the taxi's when I need to visit a client. The rooms are kept clean and welcoming. I look forward to always staying here when in Hanoi.

We were travelling to Vietnam and all arriving at different dates into Hanoi. The hotel was very accommodating about changing rooms to accommodate our growing number with each date.

They were very helpful in arranging tours for us to Halong Bay which was fantastic. There was also a tour arranged to Sapa with APT which I would not recommend as the tour was horrible. That is another review!

Very professional - friendly and courteous staff. They noticed that we had been waiting for the tour bus for awhile and called the company without us prompting them to do it.

Arranged a room for us to crash into for 4 hours before our next flight out to Da Nang which was just lovely as we needed that precious time to regroup before the next lot of travel.

Brilliant place to stay. Quiet, very reasonably priced, staff very friendly and the place is immaculately clean. We ended up staying 4 times during our trip. The place is brilliant and tremendous value for money.

I booked the Gia Bao Ha Noi Hotel because it was mentioned in the wallpaper city guide. To be honest – i was dissapointed. Though the service was good, friendly, efficient and english speaking, the rooms lacked a bit of cleanliness, and the hotel was a bit worn out though its supposed to be not too old. We booked the best room which should have a little rooftop terrace, and yes, there's a rooftop terrace but this was obviously misused more as a storage room. Overall: Its not the boutique hotel as many wrote about the hotel – its a standard not very well managed little hotel in Hanoi, I guess there are some better in town for the same price. The location instead could def. not be better.
