The hotel rooms and breakfast was ok. I don't know how it compared to other hotels as I didn't visit any. We did though stay in a hotel in Ho Chi Minh for cheaper and the hotel was much better even and it was only a 2 star. We were changed from our original room which had stained carpets to a room nearer the front of the hotel. That one was better. The problem we had with the hotel was with the staff. Particularly a guy called Cuong (assistant to MD). He first of all rented us a bike that broke down on the first day and then charged me for the privilege. Then he booked us a trip to Sapa. We paid for a private cabin and found the tickets didn't say this when we got on the train - we ended up having to fight it out with the ticket inspector or we'd have been sharing our cabin. The hotel in Sapa was overpriced as it was very low quality - I think Cuong made a good precentage on that deal. We ended up going out to eat as the inclusive food in the hotel (Bamboo Hotel Sapa) was rank. Cuong assured me it was a new and great hotel. Reality was it was run down, expensive, noisy and had a poor restaurant. I found Cuong a very smiley chap who seemed like he couldn't do more for you and seemed to be full of information, all the time he'd have his hand in your back pocket reaching for your wallet and basically telling you anything he felt would have you parting with cash. Don't make the mistake I did and get the hotel to book anything. I'm at fault just as much for letting him rip me off, however you don't expect it from a hotel. After all they'd want you to visit again right? Use a tour company. If you do that, you may enjoy the hotel more than we did.

We did have a deluxe room. Room and bathroom good albeit virually no views. Plenty of light once one opened up curtains obscuring scuffy outside.
Breakfast very average and restaurant staff very average. Only had breakfast in hotel.
Opposite local market and just a fascinating area to stay in.
To ensure quiet room CHECK room first!

I recently stayed at Hoabinh Palace Hotel. A nice and clean, and friendly hotel in Hanoi, Vietnam. The room was well kept, fruit and water were provided complimentary each day, and there was free wi-fi, and PC’s down stairs. The hotel is central to everything that you would want to do and see around Hanoi, and there is a lonely planet recommended pub next door which I found to be quite a good place.
The staff were fabulous, and I was blown away with how at home they made me feel. Extremely welcoming.
There is a massage centre upstairs of the ground floor reception area, at reasonable rates, and a tour booking agency in front of reception. This hotel had everything you could ask for.
I also paid for the pick up and drop off service from and to the airport, clean car, friendly drivers, no hassles! A definite plus when arriving in a new city.
To top of the stay as I was checking out I met Mr Tran Tuan the managing director, he adds a touch of class, and the personal feel to the hotel. He introduced himself, and apologised for not meeting me sooner. We then went to the 8th floor Restaurant and enjoyed a beer over a conversation. I have travelled Europe, some of Asia and the Middle East, and I have never felt more welcome than in Mr Tuan’s hotel. I thank him and his staff for their hospitality. And now have a hotel I will return to in Hanoi.

I recently spent 2 weeks in the Hoabinh Palace Hotel, in the very heart of the Old City in Hanoi. I was there with a group of Global Volunteers teaching conversational English at the University and a High School. The hotel embraced our group, made us feel that we were at home, and took care of our requests and needs with graciousness and efficiency. We enjoyed our wonderful fresh and plentiful breakfast in the lovely restaurant with a few of the city, and did have several delicious meals there. Whenever we needed a taxi, the desk would call one and make sure the driver knew where we wanted to go. After our program we travelled for a few days then returned to the hotel. It felt like being back home!

We stayed one night at the Hoa Binh Palace and wished we could have stayed more.

The hotel is right across the street from a daily market and in the middle of all the action in Hanoi. While this is not a Western 5 star hotel, the staff was very friendly and helpful and the price was reasonable compared to the actual Western 5 star hotels. When I couldn't get my international phone to work properly the front desk spent about 30 minutes trying to help me.

This is within walking distance to the heart of the city. The room was nice and comfortable and the hotel was very comfortable.

We booked the ride from the airport but did not see the driver when we got to the airpot and found another ride to the hotel.

Had a massage at the hotel spa that was relaxing (but not the best message on our trip).

Overall we enjoyed our one-night stay at the Hoabinh Palace.
