“Best Local Hotel in Hanoi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2012

I often travel to Hanoi on business and it is a shame that it took four trips until I found this gem of a hotel.

The Hotel is located in the centre of the old district making it a great base to explore Hanoi.

The staff are extremely friendly and are more than happy to impart with excellent information about the local area, something you will not find in chain hotels!

Rooms are well furnished and the wi-fi connectivity is excellent. For the price per night this is the best hotel you will find for many miles.

Re-reading the other reviews you get a fair view of what we experienced in this hotel (May-12) so this review will only be a brief summary of my thoughts.

We arrived like a lot of people people after a very long flight and the staff/management accommodated us with an early check in which was a god-send. We were shown to the room and it was clean, big enough, had all the facities we needed but had no wow factor - hence me being a little disappointed at first. But, the hotel grew on me and I would use it again. The breakfast was average but sufficient which meant we could really enjoy our lunches out!

I liked
- The friendly, helpful and attentive staff
- Being right in the middle of the old town
- Being in a small & slightly quirky hotel

I disliked
- The gym

Nothing fancy but it is clean, breakfast is ok and the location is stunning to get a feel of the old quarter! We had a room overlooking the main street, no problem with the noise, double glazing was good!

We stayed at the Quoc Hoa for three nights in October 2011, between trips to Ha Long Bay and Sapa. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable and offered a delightful view of the pulsing street life of Hanoi from the balcony. The food, served on the top floor with a panoramic view of the city, was quite good for a tourist hotel. This hotel's greatest attribute, however, is its location. Set in Hanoi's Old Quarter it is an easy walk to Hoan Kiem Lake, Hoa Loa Prison (aka, the Hanoi Hilton), and the traditional markets.

If you stay here, don't miss the opportunity to take an early morning walk to Hoan Kiem Lake, where the locals gather at dawn for health and fitness activities -- everything from walking and Tai Chi to soccer and group exercise. You might even be invited, as we were, to join a group activity. We're not sure what it was -- a blend of tai chi and laughing yoga, perhaps -- but we felt warmly welcomed, despite the language barrier. It was one of our most memorable experiences in Viet Nam.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2012

We stayed here for two nights in April and found it to be a good location for the most important/interesting of Hanoi's attractions.
We thought the staff were great - really attentive and helpful. For instance, we arrived at the hotel at about 0900, having landed at the airport earlier that morning. Our room wasn't ready - not surprisingly - but to our surprise and delight we were able to move in at 0945 which I thought was amazing!
Rooms were fine, not noisy despite busy location, beds comfortable enough, good bathroom, lovely breakfast.
The staff in the bar downstairs were just lovely - so anxious to please, good english spoken.
Overall, a great place to stay.

Solid hotel with great beds, rooms and okay service. But above all, realt great placement in the old quarter, right on a busy street, but still has fairly quiet rooms. Great value for money.

We sayed for seven nights on our recent trip, the staff were the best we encounted on our trip.
Our room was clean and quiet. Ample hot water for showers etc.
Breakfast could use a bit of variety and was cold some mornings, but the view from the restaraunt was great. The hotel organised our airport pick up and drop of and all went well , We had a "run in" with a cyclo driver outside the Hotel and the doorman sorted him very quickly.
Right in the heart of the old quarter and walking distance to the lake and other attractions, Hotel looked after bags when we went to overnight tour.

Room Tip: We were at the back, on the 3rd floor and it was quiet
