“Nice hotel, terrible breakfast”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2012

I stayed in Hanoi Club for one week on a business trip. The rooms are nice except the shower which only has rain fall shower head but no shower head on a hose. This means you first have to adjust the water temperature hiding behind the shower curtain.

Hanoi Club has a well equipped gym and a pool next to the West Lake. Also the Spa is great where I was offered a free foot massage.

Room service was unsatisfactory at the beginning. Two days the room was not cleaned properly. But after complaining at the reception the rooms were made up very nice.

The big disadvantage however was breakfast, which is far from what you would expect from a 4-star breakfast buffet. There is not much choice and the quality of food is average. At least I never came late to the meetings that week because breakfast did not take too long...

This is a lovely hotel just nicely tucked away from the hustle and bustle of this mad city! They definitely pay attention to detail and the hotel has everything you need. Rooms are large, very clean and well maintained with lovely large towels and bath robes provided along with TV, safe, tea/coffee facilities, nice smellies and mini bar (extra cost). There is free wifi in the hotel lobby and small restaurant. The hotel has a large swimming pool with plenty of beds and it is on the side of the lake so is a great location. It also has a driving range where you hit your balls into the lake, watch out for the men in the rowing boat on a night time who row with their feet and collect in golf balls! The food in the restaurant was good and staff very helpful. Cheap cakes after 7pm! Would definitely recommend

This was my first time to Hanoi - a chaotic but fascinating City. The Hanoi Club offered an oasis of peace and tranquility away from the noise of the City (taxi horns, amongst many other things). Good rooms, effective aircon, useful sized safe, although the glass wall to the bathroom (there is a blind) is a bit disconcerting at first. Staff helpful, spoke good English and dealt with some issues, e.g. taxis overcharging, efficiently and effectively. Breakfast OK, if not outstanding; didn't try the Chinese restaurant in the hotel as there are so many other places to try in the City. The City centre is just about walkable but you really need taxis - follow advice and you are less likely to get ripped off. I'd happily go back.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view - if you can't get this, go high.

We (husband, 2 boys aged 5 & 3 and myself) stayed here for 4 nights when we stayed in Hanoi and we will not be going back anytime soon. The room was ok, but lacking storage space so we pretty much left everything in the suitcase, which was frustrating. There's a small sofa that both my children we expected to sleep on - the management did eventually bring in a single bed for them after much arguing, which put me on edge and feeling like i was asking for something out of the ordinary.
The breakfast was included in the price but it was poor, boiled chicken sausages that we left to stand in 3 inches of water and pastries that were dry and hard are not my idea of a delicious breakfast. In the end we went out to breakfast, and found much nicer alternatives.
The pool area needs attention too. The floating bugs in the pool were annoying, i didn't see anyone clean the pool at all in the 4 days we were there. The sun loungers were filthy as well, even the boys didn't want to sit down on the chairs.
We did spend a lot of time on the golf range though, which was a nice touch, but again the area could have done with a good clean.
Overall it's ok as a base to see the rest of Hanoi, but if you want to spend much time in the hotel i'd give it a miss.

This hotel was a good 4 star, with clean fresh rooms, and a great breakfast buffet. The taxi driver had trouble finding it, as it is down a small side street, but it has great views across the lake as it sits on the edge. Huge pool and golf driving range into water ($5 100 balls) make this a great spot for kids/teens for a relax in the hot afternoon. It is about 7min/ $3 cab fare into the heart of hanoi, so we really enjoyed the facilities, and travelledin to hanoi in morning and then for dinner. There are local shops and restaurants around to buy food/beer to drink by the pool. Would definately stay here again.

Staff are friendly and helpful. Facilities are well-maintained.
Breakfast spread is pretty good but if you want to enjoy authentic Vietnamese food, you should go elsewhere.
