“Dine with a smile ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2014

Booked for a dinner here, read there was a balcony on the roof that sounded great: on arrival we asked about it, due to high probability of rain we thought to stay indoors but decided against it, up up up we went: quite a few flights of stairs. Worth the climb, had the whole balcony to our selves.

Service, dinner, atmosphere was top notch. Highly recommend the piña colada: and go for the duck in tamarind: you won't regret it.

One of my Favourite meals in Hanoi and memorable.

“Delicious Food on a stormy Hanoi night”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2014 via mobile

This would have to be the best meal we have eaten in Hanoi.
The menu features duck and the three dishes we chose were all well presented and delicious.
The service from all in the restaurant could not be faulted. We were even offered an umbrella for our walk back to our hotel in the torrential rain.
We will return to try more before leaving Hanoi.

Each dish we ordered was delicious and obviously of a high quality. I also enjoyed one of the best pina coladas I have tasted! Really good service here, and I recommend getting a table up on the rooftop balcony as it adds a little charm to the meal! Wasn't a buzzing atmosphere but instead was peaceful and romantic (quite nice for a change in Hanoi)!

“Interesting & tasty food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2014

We visited little black duck on a verbal recommendation.

For starters we enjoyed their fresh spring rolls with lots of fresh herbs and beef, followed by the house speciality stir fried duck and an interesting and tasty traditional Vietnamese dish - banh xeo (rice pancakes with seafood and sprouts) Yum

All of the meals were very tasty and at a competitive price for the quality, ambiance and service.

The Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk is also superb.

Tucked up in a quieter part of Hanoi on a quiet st, the traffic won't blow you away and you will enjoy the walk home.

It was mid afternoon and we fortunately had a lots of time to meet and talk with Hong the owner about her menu and cooking styles while we ate our meals, and learned that she studied as a student at koto cooking school and completed a business scholarship in Australia before opening her restaurant in Hanoi six months ago.

We wish her all the best, she's doing a great job already.

If you like good food you'll enjoy it.
