“Over rated. NOT tops.”

Very little has been spent to develop good exhibits. Mobbed by school children. Does not hold a candle to the Museum of History which is really first class.

“An interesting way to spend an hour or two”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

You can get fairly museumed out when travelling but this place was pretty interesting. I particularly liked the second last floor where they displayed their female war heroes - these were some very tough chicks. Even taking account of the somewhat one-sided historical views (everyone does this) it is no wonder the Vietnamese people were victorious against all their occupies over the centuries, they're a very determined and resourceful bunch. It's also intriguing and refreshing to see the emphasis placed on the value of women's role in society. The museum is also opened on Mondays which is unusual.

“Moving displays, calm and colourful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

We really enjoyed our morning here. It's the sort of museum that keeps your attention because it's been well designed, it utilizes various displays(some interactive!), videos, antiques and keeps you wanting more. Over 4 levels, you come to understand the multitudinal ways in which Vietnamese woman have forged their identities in urban, regional and wartime conditions. The video presentations of street vendors who've been forced to leave their families in order to raise money really struck a sentimental note. As did the inerviews with inspirational Vietnamese women. For a mere dollar fifity, I urge you to take time out to visit this museum.

“Excellent fairly new museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

I was glad to know that when I came to Hanoi 7 years ago with a women's rights tour I had organized that I hadn't missed this museum. The museum is a couple of years old and explains quite a bit about different ethnic groups with all the traditional clothing and the like. It is very well organized and even a little interactive. The descriptions of the different groups lineage was informative. There is also wonderful video about woman selling their products on the street and having to stay away from their families. I was suprised by how candid it was.
