“Excellent outdoor and indoor display!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

Before travelling to Sapa, we had 2 days in Hanoi. We decided to visit Museum Ethnography. Not only does this Museum have an excellent outdoor display, the Indoors display is excellent as well. The Museum has a large collection on display of objects of daily use, like knives, baskets, mats, etc., used by the different 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam. It also has the clothing collection, agricultural tools, fishing instruments, musical instruments and jewellery belonging to the 54 ethnic groups of Vietnam.

“Interesting for all”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

outside the museum building on the museum grounds are reconstructions of various huts of ethnic tribes that you can go inside and check out. Some have decorations and instruments that you can try out. This is the most interesting part of the museum and worth checking out !

“A must see museum in Hanoi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

If you really want to get an understanding of the peoples of Vietnam then this museum is the place to go. I thought we would spend a couple of hours there and five hours later..... Very informative and interesting displays and videos of the many groups of people who make up the Vietnamese, most notably the minority groups. The museum is a little far from the Old Quarter so make sure you agree a price first for the taxi.
