“Comfortable, good rooms and good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2013

This a good little hotel in a good location for exploring Hanoi. The staff are very friendly, professional and proud to work at the hotel. Daisy helped us to arrange an excellent Halong Bay river cruise as well as train tickets south. Breakfast is fresh with a good variety.

We were fortunate to stay in a suite during both stays at the hotel and the rooms were excellent.

One tip is to change your money elsewhere as the rate isn't favourable. You are charged in USD and the conversion to Dong wasn't competitive.

One humorous observation is that the furniture, in particular in the breakfast / dining area looked like it had been won from an auction from one of Katie Price's weddings.

I stayed here for a short business trip. To sum it up - perfect! If you are looking for a very personal, clean and safe stay and great value in the heart of Hanoi's old quarter you can't beat it. The service is exceptional, far better than most high-end hotel chains, even arranging airport pick-ups at a competitive rate. The staff are impeccable and from initial contact Daisy was an excellent help. The rooms are clean and well maintained - though you do have to remember to turn on the hot water heater! Breakfast is fresh and made to order - if busy bit of a squeeze in the dining area but that's part of the charm. The location is perfect, down one of the quieter streets and a very short stroll from St Joseph's Cathedral which serves as a great land-mark for taxis/finding your way back. Hoan Kiem lake is a two minute stroll and a must for an early morning walk or run to see the daily life of Hanoi as it wakes up.
For business there is good WiFi throughout the building - I never had any problems with access or speed, rooms seemed safe and, certainly the one I was staying in, quiet.
In summary, a gem, I would definitely be returning whether for business or pleasure - a great find in the centre of Hanoi!

What a great find, stumbling around looking at reviews and thrilled that we booked at Splendid Star Boutique Hotel. We stayed 2 nights but the staff looked after our belongings while we went to Halong Bay and then Sapa for a further 5days. What delightful staff with Kelly and every other staff member. Daisy organized the trip to Sapa covering every detail.Truly exceptional service with free rooms to have a rest and shower in-between our trips. I would highly recommend this hotel as the rooms were clean, large and attention to detail for your comfort are paramount. Breakfast is plentiful and the location in my opinion was perfect. Thanks Cheryl and Malcolm

Room Tip: We booked the honeymoon suite which was lovely, however we were given free access to standard rooms...

The service is excellent, the hotel staff assist us to book tickets for show at the Vietnam Tuong Theatre & even walk us to the location. Its was a small hotel but the environment is comfortable, secured & cosy. Only we're not being provided with a city view room which was promised earlier due to room leakage problem as explained by the hotel. It will good if the hotel private car driver could speak simple English. Our Halong Bay one day trip was also arranged by the hotel. The hotel was located near to St Joseph Church with quite a no of restaurants, gift shops around. There were a 24hour pharmacy around the corner too & a convenient store opposite the hotel. Overall its a good stay, recommended. It costs us USD178 for 3 nights stay (1 large & 1 single bed), USD18 private car pickup service from the airport & free pickup service to the airport. Halong Bay one day trip is USD38per pax. We would also like to thank Ms Kelly for her great service and her another male colleague, whom is a real multi-task staff, a thumb up for him!

Everybody in the hotel was so helpful with any questions or queries. The staff were also very personable and greeted you anytime you passed by. The rooms are large and have all the required facilities and more with inclusion of laptop in room for browsing. Perfect walking distance for all tourist attractions in Hanoi. We also booked Halong Bay tour with reception in hotel and it was fantastic company they recommended!

This is by far the best hotel I've stayed in, especially from a service perspective. Staff really helpful (Beyond what would be expected) and really made a solo traveller like me feel comfortable, providing everything from forward transfer bookings to advice on how to best organise time etc. Would thoroughly recommend for it's hospitality alone.

Room Tip: Well, as I got the honeymoon suite, I'd say I probably got the best room. Just a matter of chan...
