“Excellent friendly guesthouse”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013

Stayed here last week for 4 nights.
Due to a mix up on the dates of arrival, our fault not the guest houses, we arrived a day late, however they held our room for us. We are so glad they did.
This is an excellent little guesthouse, the location is right in the heart of the old quarter, so really handy for exploring Hanoi.
The rooms are very clean indeed, a good size, beds comfortable, showers good and great air con.
The staff are all very friendly, informative and not at all pushy. Take sometime to get to know them, before you know it you will be introduced to half the street, Bia Ha Noi, on the doorstep late at night with the locals just can't be beaten.
Thanks again to all the staff, especially, Grandmother, T and Zak, for such a good stay.
See you all soon guys.
Pete and Christine.

Overall they all had a fake friendly attitude, when you went to leave for breakfast or have a look around Hanoi they were on top of you trying to make you book trips with them. They didn't leave us alone untill we did!
Not a great guesthouse. The rooms were tiny and the location was quite bad.

We originally made our reservation at Lucky Guesthouse in Hanoi but were moved/upgraded to Lucky Guesthouse 2 on the night it opened. It was brand new, very clean, with large rooms and spacious bathrooms. The staff was amazing - some of the nicest people we met in Vietnam. Tam, Mary and Peter helped with all of our reservations and even provided a special birthday surprise for my friend. I would absolutely return to Lucky Guesthouse - thanks for such a great stay!!

Our room was spacious, staff was very friendly, the location was good. The breakfast was a Vietnamese standard - bread and omlette. We booked Ha Long trip wih them an we enjoyed the trip. I would recommend staying in this hotel.

I stayed here for one day and found it to be comfortable, quite well located and had a very friendly staff. Wifi was weak on the higher up floors. The hotel also has a computer room and my room was quiet with good air con.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

I've been travelling throughout south east Asia for 8 weeks by the time I arrived in Hanoi Lucky guesthouse at the advice of some other travellers I had met in Laos. This is by far the most helpful and friendly place I have been and the owners and other people who work there couldn't do enough. First I had had a lot of stuff stolen in Laos and I was kindly driven all over the city on their bike (for free) to find me a new second hand phone for the best price and a new tablet. Then even after we checked out and went on tours to Sapa and Halong bay we were allowed to use their place as a base to leave our things, have a shower and have breakfast after getting off the night train to Sapa, all complimentary. The staff know everything about the area and get almost anything arranged in terms of tours and ongoing travel.
The rooms are clean with good hot water showers. The breakfast is very basic, an omelette cooked behind the counter for you and some bread and jam but this is relatively standard in budget accommodation in Vietnam.
For the cost of the rooms this guesthouse was extremely good value for money. It isn't a flashy hotel but it isn't trying to be. I wonder if any recent negative reviews may be related to those type of expectations, as I was extremely surprised to note such a negative recent review as this has has been one of the most positive experiences of my travels so far.

Myself and my partner recently stayed in hanoi lucky, we found the staff very welcoming, offering free water when we arrived. We were on the top floor of the hotel and one of the staff members carried up my bags which was nice. Breakfast is nothing different to anywhere else, egg and bread which seems to be standard im vietnam! Our room was nice, double bed, cable tv and fridge. The whole building is very very clean. My only Issue with this hostel is this; they offer tours here (as Many hotels do), but we had already decided that we were going to book with a different operator who had better tours at a better price. When a staff member asked us were we planning any trips we said we had already booked with someone, and after that we were given the cold shoulder by staff which I felt was unfair.
