My last visit was so memorable, although not all for positive reasons. This visit was at lunch time and I managed to get a lovely seat in the inside terrace. In fact, the restaurant is worth a visit just for the ambiance of the interior. There were a number of other diners, all Vietnamese.
This time all the staff seemed all to speak English, so a very different visit so far.
I was planning my TripAdviosor review in my head, thinking how different it would be. Then a small rat ran in front of my table. It would seem that the waitress laughing at my sketch of a rat was not due to my poor drawing skills, but at a westerner complaining about an every day experience.
I had grilled squid with salt and chilli which was extremely good. So my opinion that the food is normally good in my last review proved to be correct. The price is neither expensive nor cheap, so not worth wondering here from the main tourist drag to save some money. But for a more authentic Hanoi dining experience then I cannot recommend Bach Hoi Quan highly enough.
Its also worth waling around the area as it contains shops not aimed at tourists, where you can buy some good fashionable clothing at reasonable prices. What a difference to the overpriced t-shirts in the tourist area.
