“Well worth a visit great contemporary art section”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

Beautiful building and great location. Only a few dollars for entry makes this a great choice.
Lots of rooms to explore. Sure to find something of interest. I enjoyed contemporary gallery.
Gift shop is different - piles of pictures and you can meet the artists!

“Classic View of Vietnam”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

Surprisingly un-modern art where the impressions of the American War are naive and simple, but incredibly realistic, depicting the struggle and the committment of the VIet. The historical exhibits belie the modern beliefs, but point back to a more romantic and spiritual time before the conflicts.

“Nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013

Probably not a place of must see in Hanoi, but do drop by if you have time or want to find a place to take a respite from the summer heat.
The art work and paintings on display are most pleasant if you appreciate the arts. The air con rooms on the ground floor are very cosy and overall I think a very pleasant place to spend an hour or two and learn a bit about Vietnam's history of fine arts.

“If you're interested in art.....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

if you're interested in ART this is a must see in Hanoi with examples of work from the 11th Century right through to contemporary artists.I loved it and you can get a small book in the shop to remind you of some of the best pieces for 50,000 dong ($2.50)...you can't go wrong. In my Guide book it said there was an entrance fee but on the day I visited I did not have to pay.

“Decent Art Museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2013

Admission was about a $1 USD. The layout was a bit haphazard with signs leading you to the next area. Lighting could have been better, but nice selection or pieces dating back to the 11th century and some modern pieces. One room had short videos as art exhibits. One video showed a drawing on what seemed to be a white board. The artist would throw a rock in the water and the splash of water would dissolve the drawing.
Gift shop at the end with a no pressure attendant.
Entire place is air-conditioned as was a nice retrieve from the 38 degrees (100 F) outside.
