“Excellent Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2011

We stayed for three nights at this hotel on holiday. We loved the Art Deco fittings and the general pre-War atmosphere. The cocktail bar was ideal for pre-dinner drinks and the downstairs restaurant had a magnificent and inexpensive dinner buffet with all manner of different cooking styles. The fish was particularly good. There was a reception in the large reception room upstairs every night given by one embassy or another and we enjoyed watching all the guests arriving.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 day training. Reception was professional and friendly. Rooms was spacious and well designed. It gave a feel of luxury, without it being over the top.
Fitness room was very good with 5 treadmills and 4 bikes.
Restaurant on ground floor with buffet was somewhat pricey, but food was good. For atmosphere it does not deserve good marks; bit impersonal.
For business, and if you can afford the rates, it's a fine hotel. For tourists, I think it's too highly priced and too big. But that will always be a matter of personal taste, now won't it....? :-)

Was here for a week business trip. We've been upgraded to Suite Room, which was extremely spacious and nice. Classy decor and room a bit dark. Bathroom is huge. Great view from my 12th floor and indeed strategic location, all is reachable within walking distance....love old classic Hanoi...

Conference hall was spacious can accommodate about 300 - 400 pax, service was good not excellent though! Staff are friendly but speaks little English...so was a bit difficult to explain things...

Breakfast and Lunch was excellent, quite a range to choose....

Sleeping quality was a bit poor due to noisy club (not sure though) on the 2nd or 3rd floor...

In general, this hotel was ok and might go back for future business events...

I was in Hanoi for a conference held in Melia, so naturally, the company booked me a room there. The room was spacious and nice. The bathroom was also clean and spacious.

I love the view from the room, it overlooks the city and the location is very strategic. It's within (reasonable) walking distance to most tourist spots and if you're not into walking, taxis are also easily available.

Melia claims that their food is halal, so this is another plus point as halal food is a bit difficult to find in Hanoi. The breakfast spread was the usual fare, nothing out of the extraordinary...

The hotel Melia is a 20 floors 4 stars hotel in Hanoi, with the big advantage in this moving city with more and more trafic congestion to be located at 10-15 minutes by food of the historical neighborhood awarded by the UNESCO as heritage of humanity.
The rooms are very functional and you will find all facilities and comfort as usual in this category of international hotels.
Be care, because the internet connection is not free, you can use the cable of wifi, it will cost you 12 US$ and 20 more for the breakfast. But all that remains at a reasonable price (around 150 US$ a night throught internet offers.

What you would expect from a modern hotel, not a lot of character but it was in a reasonable location and the staff were very helpful. We left our luggage here and just took an overnight bag while we went on a Halong Bay Cruise, came back to the hotel for another nights stay and found that we had been upgraded to a suite which was very nice.

The hotel is large and well laid out. The breakfasts were excellent. However the decor is rather old fashion and needs updating and the swimming pool was closed for the period of my stay.

Room Tip: best to choose the north side and dont pay any extra to upgrade as the decor is just plain awful
