Wonderful place to stay. We started our holiday in Vietnam at the Metropole and what an excellent choice! We stayed in the Opera Wing Deluxe Room for the three of us which was fine, beautiful view into the courtyard, massive Christmas tree and thousands of lights making it magical at night. The Bamboo Bar was our favourite place for snacks and the Spice Garden for breakfast and dinner was delicious. The staff were always friendly and welcoming and the front desk staff were always helpful. We went on a trip to Halong Bay and the hotel looked after our luggage, no additional cost. So wonderfully accommodating. Enjoy trying here, we did!

Room Tip: Opera Room with a view to the courtyard was quiet and peaceful after a hectic day in Hanoi.

The service was outstanding, the food was amazing and the rooms are very clean and nice. The hotel is in a great location that makes it very easy to get around the city and the staff is wonderfully helpful and always willing to help you find your way with one of their free city maps.

After getting sick during a homestay experience we stayed at the Sofitel for 3 nights. Actually the best place to be sick. The rooms are wonderful, the staff is excellent and professional in everything and even organized warm water bottles against stomach pain. The 3 pm tea is absolutely recommended.
If you have the money stay here. Life is too short to stay and mediocre hotels, especially when it is 9 degrees and raining outside.

Room Tip: Old wing is more classy, but also more expensive. New wing is just fine.

This hotel in Hanoi is really good. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Hanoi. The hotel is excellently located and has that old world French style and charm. The service was great as well. if you can manage it, get a club room as the lounge is amazing. I highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Opera wing. Club room

The hotel is an amazing property very well maintained but the service is not at all up to a 5 stars property and for me this is due to the operator which is Accor group. The property should really be manage by a group like Four Seasons, Ritz or Park Hyatt but certainly not by Accor ! In that case you will for sure not have the waitresses screaming at each other from one side to the over of the restaurant, u will not have to tell them to be more quiet or to ask the maintenance team to stop drealing in the restaurant during lunch time ! The staff will also not tell u at the club lounge we closed in 15 min & ask you what you would like to drink even before u are seated at your table ! They would also might have basics knowlegde on English and will at least great the guess when they see them around the property. If you ever go to Hanoi you should definitely stay in this hotel to have the chance of seeing the property as it is a beautiful hotel: their rooms are amazing but do not expect a 5 star service unfortunately !

Room Tip: The room in the historical wing are fantastic or the premium deluxe in the opera wing (amazing bathr...
