I was really looking forward to dinner at DC after reading so many good reviews. A friend recommended it as well.
Wmade a reservation (while on holiday), went to the restaurant, ushered to the wrong floor (some confusion on their end).
We ordered a bottle of french red, waitperson came back and said they were out of that bottle. I chose another bottle, another waitperson comes back about 10mins later to say that bottle was out as well. Recommended another red, which was good intentions on her part. Didn't suit our taste for a medium bodied red. We chose a 3rd bottle- which was out as well. By this time, we were getting quite frustrated obviously. We only managed to order the 4th or 5th bottle we picked. And by the time the wine got to our table, it was about 30 or 40 mins after we had sat down- imagine that!
For food, we tried the onion soup- which was a lot lighter than u would expect. The escargots were done in nice way - grilled. We ordered the US rib eye with bone- too thinly cut for my liking, looked more like a t-bone too, really. Also tried the NZ rib eye - which was average - at best. For desserts, we tried to order the creme brulee, but was told that it was out--urgh! French restaurant out of creme brulee -who would have thought that! I probably left thinking the bread and butter were the best bits from dinner?
All in all, utterly disappointing experience. Or perhaps that was a super unfortunate encounter that day.
